Without chopping their bloody heads off with a savage saw tooth trap, how do I persuade the little furry darlings to vacate my lawn?

No you need to keep them, they are so cute to watch. Mole hills will add to the character of your garden

    Someone once told me

Get a couple of musical brithday card. Short the little electronic gadget in each so it plays continuously and then bury them in the mole runs.
Apparently it plays havoc with their hearing and they vacate long before the batteries run out.

The other one I was told was pushing bamboo canes into the mole hills and putting an empty food tin on the tops of the canes. The wind makes the tins rattle against the canes, which propagate the sound into the runs and apparently this fvcks them off a fair bit too.

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way

Oh what fun it is to see, my moles run away, hey!

Thanks, both ideas sound very plausible, will try them out.

Would NEVER dream of killing them

First thing I did when I got here was to remove all the mole traps. Don't mind them being around the garden but they make a right mess of the lawn.

    Peppermint oil apparently

The moles don't like the smell, so off they ****. Put peppermint oil on some cotton wool and put that in the moles run.
