Could this joke of a circuit get any worse? Now we have a pole sitter who ended the session by crashing into the barriers, stopping everyone else getting a time.

Thinking back to Schumaker...ahem... 'parking' his car, Rosberg reversing back out onto the track from a run off area and one or two other cheating moves over the years (don't think LeClerc trashed his car on purpose in all fairness) nevertheless I've said it before and I'll say it again...ANY driver who causes the Q3 session to be stopped should automatically be demoted to start the race at the back of the grid. If there is more than one then the subsequent culprit starts behind the previous one.
Not sure the Red flag it would have made much difference to Hammy today though as looked well off the pace in his final run. Might have helped VB though and certainly MV looked on target for pole

Yes, Verstappen was the loser I think.

Not sure about the back of the grid but certainly have his times from Q3 deleted and start in 10th.

Why can't they clear the debris out of the way and carry on?

Monaco is a awful circuit made even worse by modern F1 cars being so big. Yes it's a huge test of skill for the drivers but as a spectacle it's awful. I normally.just check if any rain is forecast then I'll watch if not I skip it.

"The Monoco GP is the crown jewel of F1 and will forever be etched in history. Witness the glitz, the glamour, and the glory of the Principality."

The Monoco GP is the sphincter of F1 and will forever produce non-events. Witness the privileged, the tax avoiders, and the vulgarity of the Principality.

That leads me then to conclude that they ought not to just stop the clock?

Didn't actually watch it today but I assume if it was his last flying lap then there wouldn't have been enough time left to restart. You're not wrong it could all do with looking at. Sometimes people lose out on grid postion due to yellow flags and having to lift.

Yes, there's nothing stopping them changing the rules to allow a restart, even adding on a few more minutes to allow for everyone having to have another out lap. For the sake of the planned schedule running fifteen minutes over it is worth giving drivers a shot at pole, especially at the circuit where there is guaranteed no overtaking.

On a more positive note, doesn't that McLaren look great. From the worst livery on the grid to the best one in one change.

Plus there's a paying crowd and millions watching who think "that's not right".
