Peterborough chairman has tweeted that he will return to us in January. Needs to work hard to break into this team, hope he shows the right attitude and applies himself.
Not sure where he fits in, but there's a good player in there I'm certain of that. #TeamsLikeBarnsley
Gives us a different option if he comes with a different attitude. There's definitely a player in there somewhere.
Would love to see him come back and get his head down. Maybe his time at Peterborough has been a bit of a reality check for him/his dad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
i think moncur was bought by the club to cover for c.h. if injured or suspended. with 12 months left on and he was playing out of his skin there was no way moncur was going to nail down a regular place but it was pointless having him at the club just warming the bench at best, so he was sent out on loan to get match practise just in case c.h. started playing silly buggers with his contract talks ( wants to leave it until the end of the season) now as a guy who chopped and changed firms for more money over the years ( laying fibre optical cable and long distance lorry driving) I cant blame the guy, BUT as a Barnsley supporter I want him to sign now. I just think if moncur does come back then we'll see more of him game wise and it wouldn't shock me if c.h. was on the list............ got to put the club 1st
That's it I don't get people having a go at his attitude. We have our highest earner bench warming and yet have a go at a lad who doesn't want to bench warm so asked to go out and play football and keep match fit.
Not exactly what happened or how it happened is it, though? Bad influence not worth risking disrupting squad harmony.
Our highest earner throws a strop against Newcastle and gets sent off in a local derby but we can't talk about it on here because he's God. We sign an highly rated youngster who despite offers nearer home decided to up sticks to come up north to us and was never going to get a game unless something one way or another happened to our star player. So rather than his career hitting a brick wall and losing his match sharpness he asked to go out on loan which I don't have a problem with. People treat him like he's had a training ground bust up with a team mate or put fingers up at fans like Brek Shea or slagged us off like Wiseman when he left. A much bigger deal of the Moncur has been made than needed to.
Loan deal hardly a success and now massively depreciated in value as a result. I can't see a place for him, even when Conor goes in the summer. We need as good or better than what we have, which he isn't. Cut our losses - Gerrim sold, £200k. U's will have him back..
If I took my dad into work when summat went wrong because I thought I was too good for the role I'd been given then of course people would have a go at my attitude and take the piss.
He walked away to his L1 comfort zone after 2 games. He didn't back his own ability to at the very least give Hecky a headache as he'd have got a chance within weeks due to injuries. You're comparing him with Hammill being pissed off at himself having not had a good game when he didn't even give himself the chance to have any kind of game. Compare him to Morsy. There's no comparison in fact. Moncur has a lot to prove.
https://audioboom.com/posts/5426589-grant-mccann-ahead-of-peterborough-united-v-gillingham-23-12-16 Sounds like he had the same thing at Posh. Started well, dip in form, then struggled to break into first team. Still wants to prove himself in champ. I hope he comes back humbled a bit, grafts his knackers off, improves his all round game as he has all the skill to be a brilliant playmaker. Conor wasn't the finished article (still isn't) when he joined. Would be brilliant for home games where teams want to sit and defend. Has something different about him. Him, Hammill and Watkins behind Winnall with Hourihane and Morsy sitting would be deadly.
Exactly. Hammill avoids much criticism because of what he did last season and we all know what he's capable of. A reputation well earned. Morsy wasn't playing much at first and as you say Moncur was the same. If he'd hung around he no doubt would have got chances (against Bristol City for example) and now what he's done leaves a bitter taste with us
A bitter taste that can easily be sugared and desirable with good performances if he/we chooses to stay .
