Money saving on stewarding at Oakwell

I once went to a NFL game in Miami and was talking to a cop inside the ground. He was carrying a huge great gun strapped to his leg so I asked him how long he had to be on the force before he was issued with his firearm. He announced he was only an unpaid volunteer who only did match day stewarding and the gun came with the post.

So, possibly with just an initial outlay on a few revolvers we could get enough volunteers to do the stewarding and save money in the long run! I'm sure everyone would feel much safer too!

£1.50 an hour X say 40 its only £90 a home game anyway 4 of us watching pays for that. rather pay that than having some un-trained halfwit running about with a gun mate.

Never any trouble at NFL games either!

A few 'shots across the bow' would cut out the racist chanting, pitch invasions could be swiftly ended, would save on any possible fines from the FL for crowd trouble too.

Not quite true. In Miami 5 years ago with a large group and one of the 'extras' on offer was/were tickets to see the Dolphins v The Jets. At $100 plus it was out of my price range (couldn't afford the game and another couple of nights at Mango's), but it didn't deter those who had the dosh. Unfortunately one or two were caught up in 'crowd trouble' at the game.

Perhaps it is a rareity or perhaps the US media don't consider it newsworthy, but it does happen.

It is a rarity - but occasionally does happen - I think Pittsburgh-Philadelphia games are quite notorious.

I've read about their rivalry, the Philadelphia fans are really

    cheesed off with Pittsburgh.
