Well done Shep on the signing of Mostto.
I think it shows that you were telling us the truth when you said money was there for the manager if he wanted it.
I hope certain individuals on this board will now give you and Simon a little bit of credit.

(fishin)

Easy Tiger.... we've wasted much more in the past, lets hope he justifies the fee, only time will tell!!
RE: Easy Tiger.... Just making a point that money was there for the manager.
Only time will tell if Mostto will match up to his pedigree.
We need that decent CH now.

(wicked)

We do indeed........... and i don't think Lucketti is it, it's a fine line between experienced and past it, and i think he's treading it!
RE: We do indeed........... I'm not sure myself about Lucketti. But he will have better players around him than what we had at the start of last season.
We have a much better squad at the start of this season than what we had the last.
A Championship player aged around 27-29 would be my target. I suppose it will depend on how long term the Manager and Board are looking.

(wicked)

it doesn't show that at all It show's that shepherd has made money available NOW for simon davey, not that money was available 12 month's ago for andy ritchie when barnsley football clubs official website published numerous stories of players that the manager tried to sign but the club failed in doing so. In fact it was a day ago tomorrow that the official site announced we had made a failed attempt to sign foster. And almost a year since the announcement on the official site that a ritchie target was 'out of our price range' and that quote came from the official site, not andy ritchie or rick holden.
So remind me once more how us spending an undisclosed amount on a player from peru in june 2007 after we had secured championship status again, and therefore increased our bank balance and budget, shows that we had the same sort of money available last june after a year in league 1.

hehe Let him rattle. What Jokeman knows about professional football you could write on the back of a postage stamp. Twice. In block capitals. And still have space for your name and address.

Que ???, its available now ... can't say about then anyway, if this is a reference to AR ... I don't think he complained about there being no money,
just that there weren't any players that were within budget ANDbetter than what we had.
To be fairthis perivian is a gamble ... how much does SD actually know about this guy, other than reputation and record ???
Doubt we'vesent someoneover there to have him watched too many times.
don't get me wrong, glad he's here, but its a right old gamble. [personally would have spent it on centre halves]. Hopefully they still might

RE: hehe Are you shepherd in disguise? Everybody seems to want my name and address lately.
If you don't mind i'll put my mum's address on the stamp instead, i heard it's the done thing

I am sure someone on here said they had been to Peru, they might have seen some footy on TV and someone from the club overheard them talking about it.
Agents and DVD's I reckon.

Should have read this before I posted. Mind you, saves me getting into an argument when the sensible train of thought is already out in the open.
RE: it doesn't show that at all Yeh, Rio Ferdinand would have been out of our price range.
(wicked)

He probably would have but the player in question wasn't rio ferdinand, it was a young unproven player that we couldn't find the funds to sign. But then again you already knew that didnt you? You must have done, or you would have been attacking AR without doing your homework and that would be stupid wouldnt it
