Ironically he could play a big part in them going down - not him personally obviously, but the fact he was somehow purchased by a club with no actual money leading to administration.
Could have done with him last night. Second time this season that Halme's been thrown on for lack of a better option.
Him, Morsy & Williams are all playing really well. It’s funny how things change. A few months back Woodrow was the best thing since sliced bread & lots of our fans were justifying selling Moore as he wasn’t hitting form for Wigan. Now many are saying Woodrow’s playing poorly whilst Moore’s now settled in & playing superbly & getting raved about by Wigan fans
Did anybody do that? It's been blindingly obvious in a dozen games this season that we've needed a different option. Chaplin and Woodrow are great, but Moore was just not replaced. Our new central defenders were never going to slot in nicely to replace Pinnock and Lindsay, and the same goes for the goalkeeping situation, but at least in those cases the club tried to replace them with vaguely the same kind of player.
I think most people were ok with the sale of Moore but wanted a capable replacement. The timing of his sale and the lack of a replacement has hacked a lot of people off.
Exactly this. Much as I don't like it, I can accept that selling most of the spine of the team last season was part of "the plan" - replacements were at least lined up, ineffective in the short term as they have proven to be. Seems like Moore was just flogged because a stupid offer came in and dollar signs started ringing all around the board room. Which is fine if you take that unexpected cash and maybe spend a bit more than you'd ideally like on a replacement who costs a bit more than you thought you'd be willing to spend. But they didn't. They've still presumably got that cash, because seeing as KM was sold so late it certainly couldn't have been earmarked for anything. I don't particularly like the way in which they're enacting the plan, but I'll accept it as long as they at least try to make it look like they're keeping it internally consistent. As it is I sometimes just feel like I'm being treated like an idiot.
That’s been our problem every decent player we sold have been replaced with division one standard players.
Not sure that’s true TBH, he was going to Cardiff until it fell through at the last minute, which if true suggests they planned all Summer to sell, so in turn had ample time to plan a suitable replacement.
It was in the sense that Moore isn't exactly a proven championship striker. The decision not to make any effort to replace him at all is where it falls down.
They will beat us next week, William's was abit hit and miss when he was here but he is better then and defensive midfielder wr have currently.
By and large, recruitment in the summer after the sale of our spine have been utter dross, pi$$ poor all over the park and most on long contracts to boot. I’d say it been the most embarrassing recruitment in our history rather than the most successful at this level. This lot of euro duds will take us severely backwards in a footballing sense, but hey, the books will balance so it’s all fine.
