You are given a bottle of wine as a gift. It looks like it's in a blue Shampoo bottle It's a German Reisling 9% 1996 Do you
RE: I'll volunteer to try it ok I'll bring it. Probably cost me £10 in Thornley corkage knowing my luck!
Pity Stahlrost won't be there He can twist the landlady and her two daughters round his little finger with his charm. They'd do anything he asks, open a bottle of wine, anything.
Cobblers You wouldn't believe how many times I've nearly been barred from there. Once I was warned to keep my trap shut simply for asking why they don't sell mineral water. I was told in no uncertain terms if I didn't like it the way it is I had no need to come in. These days I have to wait until the barmaid has reached the end of the current chapter in her book before I dare order a pint. You've got no chance of being allowed to open a bottle of wine in there. You've got more chance of playing up front for the Reds on Tuesday.
You're not exactly selling it to me as a BBS do venue Or is this special treatment reserved for your good self?
I've made a preliminary request for approval to ask for consideration of a weekend pass It is 2011 we're talking about, right? Seriously, I'd like to make it if I can work out the details.
It's a decent pub Typical mining village pub, very well kept beer, and (for me) very local. Nice customers too. Typical local where everyone knows each other but hardly ever meet outside the pub. It's just that they will not accept even the slightest hint of critiscm, however constructive, and however mild. I was lectured for 30 minutes that night on the mineral water incident about how I know nothing about pubs so I should belt up. I tried to point out that I DO know something about pubs, because I go in lots of them! The irony of it all was that the lecture took place late on a Sunday evening when there was only 2 people in the pub. Me, and the lecturer! Having said all that it was a fine night out at the last BBS do, as long as you all just want pint after pint of decent beer. Don't try and order Burgundy Red, or mineral water, or champagne or owt like that!
I see Fortunately I very rarely drink wine in pubs - horses for courses and all that. Anyway, I'm planning on talking to a few people and considering a few options around the alcohol / need to be able to operate a motor vehicle issue.
