    Yes, Alan Birch had a brief spell with us

    Very good player on his day, not always consistent though. He was a star at Chesterfield as well

    Paul scored a brilliant chip over Clive Baker

    When Aston Villa won 3-1 at Oakwell, January 1988. Alan McInally, now a Sky Sports pundit, also scored for Villa that day, but I can't remember who got their other goal. Darren Foreman scored an equaliser for us, with a powerful drive in front of the Ponty End.
    Sad news about Paul.
