    TONGE in knee op
DALE Tonge is to have an exploratory operation on his knee and will be out of action for Barnsley for a minimum two weeks.
A surgeon will check inside the joint this week to assess damage.
Right back Tonge missed Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Port Vale and has been ruled out of tomorrow's FA Cup replay at Walsall.
Robbie Williams (ankle) and Antony Kay (knee) will also miss the third round tie.
Skipper Paul Reid, who served a one-match suspension at the weekend, is available again but new signing Paul Heckingbottom is cup-tied.
He scored both goals in Sheffield Wednesday's 4-2 third round defeat by Charlton at Hillsborough.
Skipper Reid's return to the back four will free Neil Austin to play at left back tomorrow. Reid looks set to partner centre back Matt Carbon.
Kay is expected to be fit for Saturday's game against MK Dons at Oakwell. If he is not fit Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie could delve into the transfer market again for a loan signing.
Kay last played on Boxing Day.
Striker Daniel Nardiello is set to start tomorrow's match.
Ritchie gave a debut to Heckingbottom on Saturday – 24 hours after signing him from Hillsborough.
Ritchie said: "I thought Paul slotted in there and did well. He looked steady, he's got good quality but we'll be missing him at Walsall because he's cup tied.
"We'll have to chop and change around a little bit. Paul Reid will be back from suspension and by the weekend I think we'll have Antony Kay back fit as well.
"I think we'll see Daniel Nardiello starting at Walsall."
Ritchie had Nardiello and Paul Hayes on the bench at Port Vale. Both came on, replacing Marc Richards and Tommy Wright.
