The word in the Oakwell backroom is Kevin Phillips will be making the switch from the Midlands to South Yorkshire on first July (His contract expires at WBA) on a free transfer and will be the highest paid player at the club on a big £15,000 a week although he was rumoured to be on £20,000 at West Bromwich Albion he is thought to have taken this pay cut due to Barnsley offering him the two–year deal he so dearly wanted and because of the new challenge. Also heading to Oakwell will be Gareth Bale on loan from Tottenham on a 6–Month loan deal (this will be the left sided player Davey wants to bring in). A couple of other deals are in the pipeline but this is all the Barnsley INS I good dig out. As for the players leaving the Reds this Summer will be as follows.

    Istvan Ferenczi: Notts Forest
Miguel Mostto: Peru (Do not know the clubs name)
The big one is Brian Howard's much talked about departure and he will be joining Everton. The Goodison Park outfit will beat Bolton to the Free–Scoring midfielder for £4.5 million.
    Kayode Odejayi: Cheltenham (Loan)
    Kyle Letheran: Swansea (Loan)
    Bobby Hassell: Huddersfield Town £200.000

Can we afford £15k a week though?
I wonder how much some of the players in Barnsley are earning at the moment?

Kevin Phillips could be the kind of a player we need for the next season, but there's no chance we can afford him... unless Brian Howard leaves.

irrepective of who we are going to sign, and there are lots of different opinions,I do feel that both PC and SD are about to bring in some class quality. I don't think I'm the only
one on here who feels positive, without getting carried away, about the forth comming season. If it does'nt come off though,I won't be getting carried away I'll be getting carted
    away

We will be able to afford it because of the free transfer. His wages over two years wouldn't be much more than we spent or could spend on a bunch not upto it.

    Yeah, that's a good point.

But I don't think it would be good for the team morale, if there's one player who earns twice as much as the second best paid player in the team.
Having said that, I have no idea how much the average Championship players earn nowadays, but surely it's less than £10k a week? Perhaps even less than £5k a week?
