Davey's striker swoop BARNSLEY will not ship out senior players following the arrival of Hungarian international striker Peter Rajczi. The 25-year-old who has been capped nine times arrived at Oakwell yesterday and will be a guest at tonight's match against QPR. He was an unused sub last year when England beat Hungary 3-1 in a friendly at Old Trafford. He scored 23 goals last season in domestic competition. Davey, who plans to give Rajczi his debut at Cardiff on Friday, said: "None of the senior players are going anywhere. We want to keep them all. One or two of the fringe players may be let out on loan but that's all." Barnsley also wanted to sign Fulham defender Gabriel Zakuani ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline Rajczi cannot play tonight because he does not have international clearance. The paperwork should be completed by Friday. He is being bought from Hungarian top-flight club Ujpest Dozsa and will play for Barnsley as a loan player until the end of the season. Watford and Leeds were linked with the Hungarian in the previous transfer window. His arrival puts Oakwell centre forwards Marc Richards and Daniel Nardiello under pressure. "We're really pleased," said Davey. "We've been in the hunt for a striker for the last couple of weeks and think we've come up trumps with Peter. "He was top of the goalscoring charts in Hungary, he's a full international and comes with a very good pedigree - hopefully he can transfer it to the Championship. "We've got all the paperwork done, but are still waiting for international clearance. It's a relief to have got someone in of this calibre." Barnsley have a fully fit squad for tonight's clash with fellow relegation strugglers QPR. Davey looks set to select the same starting 11 that gained a 2-0 win at Luton on Saturday January 20. Adam Bolder is set to make his debut for QPR. The 24-year-old signed from Derby at the weekend. Sheffield Wednesday were today on the brink of signing striker or right-winger Jermaine Johnson from Bradford in a £500,000 deal.
So, it looks like Johnson's release clause from Bradford was £500K. For a League 1 player signed on a free by a club with no money.
He's going to watch the game tonight! Didn't Constantine watch us before he was due to sign? Hope we put in a good performance otherwise he'll legging it for the first flight to Budapest!
None of the senior players are going anywhere that will be "None of the senior players are going anywhere". Then.
Barnsley also wanted to sign Fulham defender Gabriel Zakuani ahead of tomorrow's transfer deadline so is that a past tense!
His interview on radio gives us the answer..... we wnated to sign him, but there are other clubs that want him so he may decide to go elsewhere... nowt we can do about that... if they never said anything, then they are seen to not want to sign players if they say something and it doesn't come off, then we are not ambitious enough... his radio interview said it all, we can't do nowt about it.
