BORO GO BIG FOR MULLER

By Alan Nixon

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is chasing Barnsley's giant German keeper Heinz Muller.

Southgate's spies like the huge Oakwell hero and they could move in next month, with Mark Schwarzer injured and also running out of contract.

Muller has caught the eye since arriving in England from Norwegian side Lillestroem and he can move if a club offers £1million. Our Club Higher Ups Better Get Ready......... because if he goes for a million, they will get no end of warranted stick from the fans.
Why Not............. make the contract without the clause in the first place? I was hoping lessons were learned from the Mcindoe fiasco.
So Be It Then No one player is bigger than the club. If someone from a nothing league in a nothing country can hold us to ransom over a clause, you have to wonder. Clauses like this should never happen.
RE: So Be It Then I think you will find its the players agent who insist on these clauses, not the clubs. Muller has always stated his desire to play in the Premiership and by putting the clause in it makes it easier for it to happen. Not good for Barnsley FC, because he has been brilliant for us but players tend to look after Number 1!!!
Release Fee Clauses In Contracts Give Too Much Power To The Player I hope he signs this new deal, so we don't have to worry about it anymore.
My thoughts. As I see it, we are all worrying about something we can’t control. Do we know for certain that there is a get out clause in his contract? I would say no the only ones who know for sure will be Heinz, his Agent and BFC. If there is a clause then, does Heinz want to move to any club where he may be 2nd or 3rd choice keeper – Scott left to better himself but only gets regular football by going out on loan? I would say he’d be better off staying at Barnsley being assured of regular first team action and the possibility of an improved contract because he is so good. He can always move on later should he want to.
RE: My thoughts. Where is Scott these days, Laura? I was asking that at the match yesterday - seems to have disappeared somewhat.
RE: Why Not............. You are bonkers!
Its patently obvious he wouldnt have come without a clause whereby a Premier League club offering £1M would get to talk to him.

It's a great idea Dreamboy.
We should put it to Gordon Shepherd - don't sign contracts with release clauses. Brilliant.

RE: So Be It Then Rosenborg are doing OK in the Champions League.
How are the teams in the Championship doing in it?

As far as I am aware he is back at Crystal Palace. His new manager isn't known for having a goalkeeper listed in his 5 on the bench.
