Hull City away in 88/89. Absolutely boring! Both teams were absolute *****!

Quite a few others when i start thinking about it, but that Hull game certainly sticks out in my mind. Ended up having a drink round Hull that evening too, and for some reason that was a tad dour too.

That was the year after the Prem.

Watford fell very close to my birthday so I thought I'd treat myself. A great decision. :(

Portsmouth at home in the mid-90s was also terrible. Finished goalless.

The high point of which, I believe, was...

Robbie Williams appearance. If I remember rightly both clubs were in admin and there had been a rumour that some other bloke called Robbie Williams (who called himself a Port Vale fan), despite being a multi-millionaire, had declined to buy their club. Stadium (?) announcer referred to something like "they must be having a laugh.... No.3 (not necessarily correct).... Robbie Williams!" We played a 5-3-2 formation, as did Port Vale, which soon became 8-2-0, as did Port Vale's formation... The only other "highlight" was that they let ZCU Tyke in for nowt!

I can't even remeber the year as I had extensive hypnotherapy to block out the details. S.hit game versus Warnocks long ball specialists. Gives me the shivers even thinking about it.

yeah, forgot about the williams bit

other "high" points was when they opened the stand at 2pm and sold cans of carling and my bird at the time insisting that we go to the little chef on the way home (£7 for ham and chips!!!!!)

About 95? Remember it well if its that one. My dad broke his back to get us there and it was the worse game ever served up. He still talks about it.

Reading at Elm Park we drew 0-0 and it was freezing, think it was when Trevor Morleys wife had left him and it had bee in the paper the week before, they took him off after 30 mins due to the level of abuse the Barnsley fans were throwing at him, 'Morley wheres your wife, Morley, Morley wheres your wife'.

Notts County away about 6 years ago in one of the mickey mouse cups has to be up there as one of the dullest games ever.

0-0 after extra time - and even the penalty shoot out didnt create much excitement (seem to remember most of the pens from both sides went wide or over the bar!).

I think the total attendance that night was only about 800!!
