Why do so many hate Donny? I've lived away from South Yorks since the 70s (still go to Oakwell when I can), so I may have missed something.
Because of their hatred towards us for a start... I think its jealousy. Some of their fans actually think we stole their place in the play offs. I continually remind a Pikey work mate that they can only aspire to be where we're at now. Many of their fans genuinely believe that they're a bigger and better club than us. Fact is, their crowds nowhere near reflect the ambition of their deluded Chairman,and Unlike us, they have spent the vast majority of their existence in the Lower leagues. OnlyWhen/IF they become an established Championship club can they begin to compare with us.
RE: Why do so many hate Donny? No idea. Even the couple of seasons we were in the same division as us it was just another game as far as I was concerned, never known any Donny fans though so probably got a lot to do with it. Mutant Blunts for me.
Hit the nail on the head... what l have to say week in week out, 75% of our history spent in the top two tiers of football. And l have just had a donny fan saying i'm jealous of a bigger better club, the reply: based on what recent attendances, recent league positions, ground capacity?? he soon shut up. They keep on saying we have a bigger population (286,866 compared to our 218,0630) so we have potential, its at that point that l remind them that they're all Leeds fans. really hope they fail this year.
Hate the chairman at Donny. Always sounds a right t0sser when you hear him on the radio. He should stick to giving implants rather than trying to make Donny a success

Don't quote me on this! A work colleague, who, for his sins follows Rotherham, can’t stand the pikies. Utd were relegated on the final day of the season after Donny conspired to loose their final game approx 5-1, their opponents were Rotherham nearest rivals for the final relegation spot.
RE: Why do so many hate Donny? My understanding is when they were in the conference I would say most of us were happy to see them in the football league. I would say just as many, but a few Barnsley fans less were happy to see them get promoted again into league one. THAT is when the real downfall came. The chairman started talking about being the biggest club in the region, deserving to go up because they had a good record against us/Swansea and going on about getting into the championship. The big headed side of the club and also the jealousy turned us against them I reckon.
i can't believe it isn't so one sided? i was thinking maybe 96% wendys, and 4% for the others - with most of those votes being piss takes
Washday, for me - simple as. When we're not playing any of the other teams I'm largely indifferent to them...

When their previous chairman tried to burn down the ground and they spiraled downwards I really felt for them.(and I wasn't being patronising) when they got promoted through the playoffs back into the league I was jumping up and down in my kitchen. When the got into our league again I was really pleased and looked forward to the derbies.... and then what a set of tossers, arogant to the extreme and slagging us off !!!! I thought where does all this hatred come from ??? and the big mouth chairman !!!! Wednesday fans are big heads but they've been in the premier league europe fa cup finals and won the league cup in the last 20 years... what have Donnie fans got to be big headed about ?
