Although Ricketts had a poor game

We need to change the goalkeeper, move Sousa into the middle and get a replacement winger and we should be ok

Howard wasn't that great either, apart from putting away the penalty.
Very disappointing but lots of positives from the first half today.

At half time i thought we would go on and win

Even though they came out like a train at the begining of the first half we battled through that and started to play
Things were looking good in the second half until Nyatanga was pullled out of position and this left Reid looking after Kyle - 1-2 game over

I think Davey will change things for the next game

I'm a Colgan fan and will never slag him off.

None of the goals were his fault and he made a superb save when one on one , that would have been 4 -1. eventually it was.

Colgan will get stick for letting in the goals, but our defence could not cope with set pieces and were very disorganised in the goalmouth.

Unfortunately, today's game has given Davey the excuse for putting Muller in the sticks from now on.

I feel very disheartened ,as the defence did nothing to help Colgan today.

Colgan

I'm in the West Stand

Free kick infront of us - wipped into the 6 year box - Colgan on his line 0-1
Nyatanga racers out to stop a cross - its floated over - Reid can't get it - Colgan on his line 1-2
Reid turned inside and out on our right - shot at the near post - Colgan on his line 1-3

Colgan - good shot stopper but does not dominate his own area
I'll be surprised if he is in the nets next match

Colgan had a good best player out of the old hands one slight grumble he was beaten on his near post for 3rd goal but it was a good finish and he stepped round Kozluk as if he was nailed to the floor

thats what colgan does worng ..he does'nt command his area. Look at the opposite end how many od our crosses did there keeper come for (a hell of a lot more htna colgan). Not saying colgan is crap cos i believe he has been one of our best keeprs for a long time, but imo he does'nt help our unconvincing defence

I'm not a Colgan fan but today he played well.

How you can have expected him to save that third goal is incredible.

As for the others... the first one, it was a low ball going to the back post and he had no chance of reaching it. As for the second goal, well, if you expect him to beat Kevin Kyle in the air... (blagger)

Their goalie didnt have to come for any crosses as what few crosses went into the box went stright into his hands.

WHY shouldn't he be expected to beat Kevin Kyle in the air?

He's a goalkeeper, with his arms outstretched he's taller than Kevin Kyle or any other bugger.

But he never comes for crosses, he never imposes himself, he lacks presence - and that's what we desperately need right now.

Kyles header was a free header cos the defender had lost him! Hows that colgans fault same as the first goal (personally i thought Reid got fouled for that goal - hence the penalty IMO)

Nudge! In much the same way as you blamed Ritchie for everything last season...

it's a cop-out to blame Colgan for today's defeat. Yes, he probably should have come off his line a time or two but by the
same token, he stayed on his line at times and saved two certain goals. You were at the Wigan friendly - what would the score
have been had it not been for Colgan's saves?

To put another context into the debate...

- first goal, Reid let McKenzie get the wrong side of him 1-0.
- second goal, Nya was completely out of position (out on the left flank) 2-1.
- third goal, Kozluk totally lost his opponent 3-1.
- fourth goal, Werling loses out in the challenge - absolutely no defensive cover, 4-1.

I'm not implying Colgan is faultless but, in my book, we all know he is reluctant to leave his line and command his box. Davey
must also know that and should be instructing his defensive players to cover that reluctance. It's straight forward management,
you have a defficiency in your team and you take steps to cover that fact.

If anybody was to blame for today's defeat, you need to look to the manager and his team selection.

I hope you will cheer up Lord Raglan.
You may say you admire my optimism, but if I wasn't optomistic, I would take a running jump in the nearest river.......lol

You know I love the Sooper-Reds as much as you do Tine!

And I hate seeing them lose - especially in today's fashion!

The pre-season games only highlighted what occurred this afternoon i.e. we still can't defend!

But hey! Layer Road next Saturday, rust raining down from the roof of the away end and we'll come
away with all three points. Result? A good return journey via GNER to this neck of the woods. :D

135 points still to play for. hee...

See you there.................
