    And why?

Again, these are simply my opinion, and they're likely to be quite divisive, but here goes (it's two players).

    Mike Sheron

Where I sit in the Ponty End, Sheron used to get an absolute barrage of abuse, week in, week out - it was laughable at times. The amount of arguments me and my dad got in with people around us was unreal. I used to sit there, watching him play and just think, wow - he was a cut above most players on the pitch. His vision and thinking was just exceptional, and was oftentimes thinking two, three passes ahead of the players around him, which is probably why, when he tried to play a pass to where the support should have been, he was oftentimes left looking a mug. I don't think people really understood how good he was, and the abuse he got was in my opinion down to his hefty price tag. There aren't many players that I've seen play for us that were as intelligent as he was when it came to the game.

    Kevin Richardson

We got him at a time when he was admittedly on the ropes. He was old, his legs had gone, but boy was his head still there (similar to when we had the pleasure of seeing Jan Molby). He could just dictate the game without doing a great deal, and again, his footballing brain was right up there with some of the best I've seen in a red shirt. Alas, I think the crowd turned on him from the get go, simply seeing him as a journeyman, a has-been, and we didn't get to see a great deal of him, but in the short spell we did, some of the little, normally unnoticed things he did were a joy to watch.

Certainly agree re. Mike Sheron. Thought Nicky Eaden came in for a lot of unwarranted abuse also.

    Stephen Foster.

Everyone knew he was decent but he didn't really posses any stand out attributes.

It wasn't until he left and we couldn't get a decent centre half in for love nor money that it hit home how good and reliable Fozzy was.

Neil Thompson. Integral to the promotion team and a shame we didn't buy him 10 years earlier.

And potentially Gary Fleming (although I'm not sure he was underrated).

Also Jonny Macken. Not a great goal scorer but his touch and quick thinking were streets ahead of his team mates.

Similar to Sheron in a way.

Nicky Eaden - you never know what you have until it's gone, and to some degree Brendan O'Connell was underrated by many. He wasn't faultless but for 6 years I thought he did a great job. Scored a few, hard as nails and a good team man.

totally agree with you ref Nicky Eaden

one of the nicest guys you could ever meet too. I was a big fan of him and thought he was one of our better players... and some of his crosses were of legends.... remember the Barnard volley in the 7-1 Hudds thrashing... pretty dam sure it was Eaden who hit the cross.

    Mike Sheron.
Those slagging him off in the Ponty obviously weren't seeing the exquisite first touch and movement (often too subtle for his colleagues at the time), that I was privileged to witness from the East Stand Upper.

I think Burns was well rated among the majority of fans, he was a very very good player.

    Re: Tbh

He was similar to Eaden where I was sat. First to get stick. But you know when he wasn't in the team

Ray Mchale, without him, Banks Glavin & Barraclough wouldn't haave been able to flourish.

Not half as bad as some made out. Steady away central midfielder.

    Marciano Van Homoet

Not half as bad as some made out. Steady away full back.

    Jason Scotland

Absolutely fantastic player that never got more than 10 minutes at a time. That can't all be down to fitness because he was playing full games regularly when he left us. Was at the time our best striker in my opinion and never really got a run of games, then got shipped out along with Daggers and we were left with Cogba who was alright, and Marcus Pederson and Nick Proschwitz who were both only on loan and dire. Our only 3 senior strikers. No wonder we got relegated that season.

the mighty Brendan O'connell. Committed with an eye for goal.

Nicky Eaden and Dave Watson. You don't know what you've got til it's gone.

    Ray McHale Glavin's Hod Carrier.
