eleven disjointed individuals playing against the Southampton youth team. No one took on the responsibilty of playing the ball as team members and carving open the worst team of the season to visit oakwell. Davey must also reflect on why he persisted with three crap forwards for so long, forsaking width for numbers. Rigters should not have appeared in the second half, while a midfielder could have been added to provide JCR and El ham to make more of the flanks...absolutely basic stuff. God almighty. they were so bad he could have given any of the youngsters an opportunity at the expense of the seasoned unprofessionals who disgraced the shirt and let the club down. All of the players just seemed to want to get the ball and crash their way through to goal, like lower division sunday league players. When , on the few ocassions, we did play football the chances did come.
Agreed Davey just packed the team with whatever senior players he had left and the result was disjointed.
When England beat Germany the last time out, most of the regular England players dropped out but we still looked good, mainly because the players brought in to replace them played in their normal positions playing their normal game.
If we had had 2 strikers up front, with el Hamouir and JCR on the wings and Hassell (holding)and Butterfield (playmaker) in the middle, at least we would have had a familiar system. Then if we had lost, itwould have been becauseour players just weren't good enough, rather than because they weren't actually sure what they were supposed to be doing.

Nothing wrong with the formation / tactics yesterday Those numptys up front had plenty of opportunities and they blew all of them. They let the team down badly and are currently stealing a living. There is nothing at all wrong with playing down the middle of the field. Maybe "wing play" is more exciting for the supporters, but under the circumstances, we did more than enough to win the game.
