I need motivating to re-start my fitness program, i split with the girlfriend a month ago and couldnt be bothered to go out on the mountain bike so now i need the motivation to start again.................... any sensible suggestions welcome and i had my first shave in a month on friday (i'm 51 and looked like a werewolf) (nodding2fingers) (chinny)
I think you need to set yourself some targets? maybe weight loss? or join a club or something? learn a new language?
I know the "ins and outs" its just getting my backside into gear, once i'm out on the bike (trans pennine trail) i really enjoy it it's just the initial push
Having split from my ex wife a few moths ago I know exactly what you mean. See this as the beginning of the rest of your life, when the weight starts coming off you feel more confident and when someone pays you a compliment its the biggest buzz of all... Lifes too short mate.....go for it...theres plenty of fish in the sea...!!!
been married twice and was "courting 41/2 years and to be honest apart from my daughter and mother shes the only woman i've ever loved but thats her lose mate all i'm bothered about is how to motivate my lardy ass on to the razor blade that is my bike seat
Get one of those yellow car wash sponges from the supermarket and stick it down your shorts - makes a world of difference!
As Laura would say - and quite often does "if I can stay positive and face everything that life throws at me, so can you. Life is what you make it, there are good times and bad (mainly bad for me) but you just have to get on with it." Laura's illness has now got to the point that it has given Kev and myself the kick up the backside we need to lose weight so that we may be accepted as possible donors for her. We can't keep saying "I could do with..... " and then not doing.
If you are into MTB'ing 1) Get yersen to the newsagents, get the last but one issue of MBR.
2) Read the route and map for the "High Street" Killer loop.
3) Get yersen up to Glenridding at Ullswater.
4) Do the ride and you'll be motivated to go back again and again and before you know it you'll be fit as a fiddle.

RE: As Laura would say - and quite often does I hope Laura is as well as possible. How are the diets going? what was Kev's last weight count?
We didn't do very well last week. Both only lost about a lb. so in total have lost a stone between us. Shouldn't be any excuses but Laura being in hospital twice last week and then ill in bed sleeping the rest of it didn't help. She is totally exhausted but has gone to school as she is getting stressed out that she is falling behind with her work (just started Yr 10 and GCSE's).
it's weight loss and knee surgury so the biking keeps me fit (stopped smoking 3 years ago and put 3 stone on) and its low impact and keeps the knee mobile
RE: We didn't do very well last week. Glad she is able make it to school Keep at it. At least you are heading in the right direction
You don't live your days all at once so don't try to look ahead at them all at once. You only have to handle today so just look at today. Make a start, you can say to yourself, "I'll just do this once today." After that feel good about yourself, the rest just follows.
Also don't compare yourself with anyone else. The only person you have to be better than is you yesterday, if you just keep doing that you'll turn round one day and realise you've left the others behind.

Come on Trev think about the lower BP, the fewer tablets (yes they affect him downstairs if you need increasing doses), the ability to climb stairs wi out gasping etc & the decrease in belly size! Lets face it blokes who get outta breath climbing the stairs, who cant get it up cos of the beta blockers, cant find it cos of the belly & look so red in the face they might have an MI any moment arent likely to get much in the way of horizontal gymnastics!!! Reyt motivational speaker I am Oh & if I can climb on somert weighing half a ton & taller than me at the shoulder for 1st time in 25 years & still enjoy messen (tho the thighs, arse & left knee know they've been used) you can get the bike out the shed when you've only missed a month. GET OUT THERE SOLDIER! BW MATRON
