Just heard LJ on praise, or grumble and managed to get through an interview on a subject I am acutely interested in and just about managed to stay awake. How does this guy strike you as a motivator? "Some players don't perform and you don't hit them with a stick you give them a bit of a cuddle"? Some players need an arm round the shoulders, others might need a bollocking. Saw Ferguson on motivation on tele last week and he was clear about using different styles of motivation with different individuals. Surely to god they are being paid a good wage to deliver results? I'm not saying we need Atilla the Hun, but where is LJ's energy? Saying someone else is in charge of recruitment is not the point Lee, the point is: Have you got the bottle for the challenge? For fckus sake man up and demand what you're paying for.
A week or two ago he was being too harsh to players in training and people moaned on here. Which is it?
I do agree on this point. It seems that footballers are allowed the luxury of being allowed to under perform or just not bother at all and the excuse is they need motivation. Imagine if 99% of fans who live in the real world couldn't be arsed at work. I wonder how many of us would get an arm around us and a cuddle from our boss. Not that I'd want one from my boss.
i totally agree with the general point. not everyone is motivated by the same thing. this isn't new. it takes more intelligence to work that out. if your style is shouting and bawling, then you need an entire squad who will respond to that. if someone shouted at me at work, it wouldn't make me perform better. whether he's got what it takes, is another thing altogether. right now, the players out on the pitch don't look as though they're fighting for him though.
pampered fookers need a boot up the arse and a reality check.....failing that a docking of wages for not producing the goods. fook me.....footballers are generally just a bunch of tossers hth
