We are currently having a new roof fitted and the house re-rendered. During the roofing work the phone line was damaged (turned out to be unrelated to the building works and was a tree branch. Anyway, I called Sky (my provider) and they contacted Open Reach who came out the next day and reattached the phone line in my absence. This is a free of charge service.

The phone line used to sit neatly under the roofline. However, they have reattached the phone line in a really prominent place in front of the house and made a right pigs ear of the cabling. I don't think this is acceptable. I contacted Sky who told me to contact Open Reach. Open Reach won't deal with me as their contract is with Sky, not me. Sky have now taken up the complaint on my behalf. Kafka-esque.

The problem is I've been warned that it can take weeks for Open Reach to respond to even engage with any complaint, but the renderer will be starting to do his final finish in the next week or so. Obviously moving the phone line post render will damage the (very expensive!!) render.

Any thoughts? If the line was damaged they would come out tomorrow to fix. However, given I have a complaint open a suddenly 'damaged' line will seem a bit obvious, and I imagine they would just reattach to the new fitting anyway.

    Any BT engineers??
