Big 12 - 18 months for the club i think these owners have managed to assemble the worst squad i have seen in 25 years of watching. Dont get me wrong theres a few players i like who have potential morris, Britain, styles, collins and helik but the back up and the rest some of them jesus there embarrassing how there playing in the championship is beyond me.

Moving forward in a ideal situation this bloke on facebook or someone comes in and buys this lot out because there killing the club alienated the fans and only care about pounds. Replace them with someone who cares about the club and how we are doing on the field.

Over the past year off field staff have been leaving left right and center. Why not try get some ex players in as coaches who actually care about the club? Adam hammill? Bruce dyer? Dave watson? Not sure if there all qualified enough but in sure dave watson is.

Get shut of the deadwood even sell the decent players and do a total rebuild. Cut our losses on losers like olaure.

Im sure there are more things but next 12 months coyld go either way.

I understand the sentiment and the frustration that I think is becoming more and more obvious.

I can't see why David Watson would leave Southampton. And sadly, getting rid of deadwood costs money to do.

Oulare isn't going to give up his wages if nobody is going to better them elsewhere, and frankly, why would he? So we'd have to pay the vast majority of them to release him. We bring forward 3 years of wages into one year and take an early hit. We then either have to replace him, or we take the view we give a chance to Bremang/Thompson/Marsh.

There are no easy solutions. And I'm not sure even the seemingly cheap solutions are that cheap.

Ah didnt realise watson was still at Southampton no chance of that then. I do think getting more people who care about the club on board behind the scenes could help. Big 12 months coming up.

I don’t think they’ll change much. They’ll back the young players to come good. They’ll sell a couple, probably Helik & Woodrow & try & keep the rest of the squad together.

Not sure whether it’ll work or not. I’ve no doubt they’ll look better players at league one level but there’s a lot of competition there. Last time we got relegated I only felt we were a holding midfielder away from challenging for promotion. This time round I think we need a bit more work than that.

Morris, Anderson, Collins, Brittain & Styles would all be top class league one players but then we’d need to strengthen central midfield & we need several of Moon, Kitching, Benson, Palmer, Cole & Leya Iseka to come good.

I agree these owners will keep doing more of the same stick to young player hope they come good and then sell. Id be shocked if brittain and styles are here next season theres been intrest in brittain this window and i still think theres a good chance he will go.
As for next season with alot of people fed up with the owners and alienated id be suprised if we sold 7k season tickets ipswich, wednesday, charlton, pompey and bolton will all sell more than us and have bigger budgets. I think it will be a while before were back.

I think they'll have a major issue in the summer. Whilst they may only want to sell a couple I doubt Morris, Anderson, Collins, Brittain and Styles will be willing to take a backward step in their career, both in terms of dropping to League 1 and also taking a salary cut of up to 40% if some suggestions are accurate. As a result I think we'll see them all (or more likely their agents) pushing for a move.
As we've seen on previous occasions our owners stance is that if they don't want to be here they can go. So it then depends on whether we receive offers for them. I suspect that we'll play hard ball initially and try to hold out for more money but will end up selling several of them, probably at the lower end of their valuation.

If that happens then a) we're left with a pretty poor squad even by L1 standards and b) these owners will use the money to cover the loss (which is the right thing to do imo) and maybe make further payment(s) to OH Ltd if they're able to (which is definitely not the right thing) and reinvest any surplus back into the next batch of young 'talent'. I hope I'm wrong but I predict we'll see a huge turnover of players this summer.

As Lindsay De Paul said when she was "Rock Bottom" - tear it up and start again.

What really would help would be someone in mid-field with a bit of physique who does not get knocked off the ball. The recruitment policy has proved itself to be bankrupt this season. There needs to be a Balance between youth and experience. Most of the teams hear the to of the championship have more experience than youth. Experience would help youth to develop.

Problem is we cant afford experienced championship players who are worth having. But i miss the days when we would take players who were top scorers, top assists, club captains etc from league one and league 2 teams and give them the chance to step up. Now we seem to go for accademy players or 23s benson- signed from burnleys 23s one loan spell at grimsby of 7 games?
    J. Williams- signed from Huddersfields accademy
    Palmer- man citys accademy
    Gomes-man citys accademy player

I’d love us to bring someone in who has passion for the club but they have to be the right person. Having Devaney around the club is a really good thing and have heard first hand his influence on players. Same goes for Hassell but this needs to be in the first team as well. It’s alright having foreign managers coming in but they’ve got to be able to identify with the working people of Barnsley. Ismael’s team last season represented us as did Struber towards the end of his reign and Stendel. Unfortunately neither Schopp or Asbaghi give us that feeling.

Grant McCann was forced into similar recruitment at Hull. We need to bring him in when the season ends and he’s been paid off. He knows the expectations of the club, still has houses the club uses as player pads and has worked under restrictions at a similar sized club.

You make a good point about taking a punt on experienced lower league players. It would be a lot easier next season but such recruits may again be a bit too expensive.

Why won't our owner just dip into their deep pockets for once?
