Anyone got one? Did you go for the Ipod or is there any other decent players about?
Needs to be really simple to use for simple me.
I also need something loud due to my musical tastes!
    Any suggestions?

iPods are brilliant but the battery life is pretty poor, I think its around 4 hours continuous play. The volume level is pretty high but I would reccomend you buy some proper headphones and dont use the factory standard ones they send you.

If you choose an iPod that is.

I recently bought a Creative Zen Touch and i'm really impressed with it. 20gb hardrive is massive. Got about 120 albums on now and i've used a quarter of the memory. Battery life much better than the ipod, about 20hours continuous play!! Software is great when you get used to it but a bit tricky at first. Headphones not up to much. Quality of sound is fantastic - the reviews I have read on the net say the sound quality is better than an ipod but as i've never listened to an ipod i can't comment. Buy it from Comet online to save about 50quid. Thats 20gb for about £150! (nodding2fingers)

Some song lyrics that remind me of you:

"I tried to get in my taxi
A man in a tracksuit attacked me
He said that he saw it before me
Wants to get things a bit gory
His name is The Full Ponty
He's runs around with keepers gloves on,
Asked to borrow a pound for a condom
If it wasn't for his chip fat, he'd be frozen
    Not very sensible is he..."

    lalalalala. 20 quid. now.

    Oh aye ...

    You're a lumberjack & you're okay,
Your shirts are ***** & you're full of AIDS.
    You drink when pished,
    Your face is bished,
    You like it int back doors;
You are a sad old feckpig,
    Like Lethal Weapon 4.

    Agree Creative Zen

Much better than the Ipod which seems to be more and more a fashion item. Simple enough to use after the first time, and quite robust.

    I've a 4Mb Creative Muvo - I think the new version is 5meg.

Can't fault it, sound quality excellent, easy to use, small and light. Easily slips in the pocket and you barely notice it's there.

Got about 650 tracks on it now and it's only half full - can't see why anyone would need to have more than 1000 tracks with them at any one time. I've picked off favourite tracks and put them on, only full albums are new ones so I could give them a listen on holiday.

Just got a Sony Walkman ..

with a 20gb hard drive. Should hold about 13000 singles and has a battery life (playing) of 40 hours. Sound quality is the dogs dropdowns and simplicity itself to use. (It has to be or a numpty like me wouldn't have a clue!!) A bargain at £179.:)

    I've got an ipod

at the time it seemed to be about the best around but I'm not so sure that's still the case. I've heard a lot of good things about the iRiver range

    RE: Agree Creative Zen

I have the 40GB Zen - currently 510 albums,7611 tracks and still have 10GB left.
Went to the states recently used it both flights, about 16 hours total, and it still had plenty of juice left. A bit heavier than an Ipod, but easier to download music as it's windows based.
    Best purchase I've ever made(Y)
