After the revalations in todays Telegraph and the preview of further revalations tomorrow it makes you wonder whether politics and MP's can get any lower. It makes me sick when they say "i acted within the rules" like this is justification. The whole fecking lot of them should be sacked. What a lousy, corrupt shower of **** we have running this country.

They are all the same though

    all on the fiddle.

what bugs me is the amount of time they must have spent diddleing the books...on full pay..

Corruption is rife, in our political system...

Since the unions lost powerthe gov seem to do what they want... they change ancient laws to suit themselfs, without protestfrom anyone.

I thought having labour in power was supposed to benifit us, as a working man I have only got poorer, when they talk about boom I think .. when did this happen, because we ain't seen any of it..

I'm voteing monster raving looney next time......well you might as well.....thats the way they are anyway..

allow the facists in at your peril mate

Not suggesting for 1 second that you are facist or anything else for that matter, but do you realise that the money that these facist get for being victorious in the Euro elections, just goes to help spread their bile, and lies? The Holocaust never happened my arse. Then there's the person who claimed that good things came from the holocaust such as dental and other medical experiments.

It was on sky news this morning

and a political bloke (no idea who) was explaining that because MPs ONLY get £59k a year (i believe) then they decided that awarding themselves a huge payrise wouldn't have been welcomed by the public so instead they set up a system where they could bump up their salary by claiming expenses without the public finding out.

And they all agreed to it. Sack the lot and start again

The problem with expenses is that even legitamate ones can look dodgy

Obviously some of our MP's have been taking the piss as well but its not unreasonable for them to be covered for their costs doing the job of an MP

Last week I was working in Norway and spent £70 per day in taxis and £40 to £50 per evening meal - on top of a £130 pound a night hotel room
I'd be seriously unhappy If I couldnt claim that back tax free. Not allowed to claim for watching films (porn or otherwise) in the hotel though but I can claim a beer whilst watching the footy - just as well at £8 per pint. It would be quite easy to make it sound like I was overdoing it even though I wasnt (I spend a lot less if I am in Germany or Austria for better beer and similar food and hotel etc)

Admittedly its not taxpayers money though

Not sure about the second homes though no other job in britain allows you to keep two houses and put all the costs of running the second one tax free onto expenses. The government should rent some appartments for MP's to use as a second home it would be a much more cost effective and less open to abuse system - though I am sure that they would find a way to do that as well.

One of the things raised by the bloke on sky

was the fact that whether you're in london or barnsley, have one home or 72 you can still only eat in one place at a time so why should there be an allowance for food? Your food costs the same wherever you live.

    Not strictly true

If you are single it probably is but if you are part of a family it does cost more to feed 3 in one house and a further 1 in a seperate house in another town. Having said that I dont know what the food allowance is but say £10 per day when attending the commons wouldt be unreasonable in my opinion - or provide food in the house of commons at a special rare .. hang on dont they do that anyway :)

I definitely have more of a problem with £250 per month for cleaning - one of my friends has a cleaner to clean her 3 bed house and pays £20 per week for it so to pay a relative £250 per month is just theft

    PS

I hope the cost of food dig wasnt directed at me
food definitely doesnt cost the same in Norway as Farnham and for a short business trip its not practical to shop and cook -especially as my hotel room didnt have cooking facilities
