Once again doing his best for BFC with his own money . Dont care what anyone says on here i am so happy we have a chairman who cares about the club I feel a great second half to the season ahead of us
Does make me nervous that, one day, he's not going to be here to subsidise us, I just hope that we are in a good self-sustaining position when he decides he's had enough...we'd need to be in the Championship dragging in 15,000 fans I feel for that to be the case.
He gets some criticism, some fair some unfair, but nobody can argue he doesnt care about the club and that counts for a lot.
thats why everytime theres a rumor he is selling the club its said he wants someone with the same ambitions as him
When was last time we were getting 15,000 fans regular? do you think it is achievable to be getting that many fans? i think we have lost a lot of fans base thought kids going watch pigs and the dee dars. to get more fans down to oakwell we need to have a good 4-5 seasons!
I thought we could only spend what we make because of FFP? As for our chairman I have no idea if he cares about our club because we rarely hear from or see Maurice Watkins.
I assume you mean the latest "investments" in the squad and the bids that have been made? (Assuming they come off). Ben Mansford's mention of the support of the Cryne family in his interview gave me the impression he had made another contribution
You will note that I never said he hadn't funded these (potential) transfers himself. I hadn't seen any other reference to it. I didn't listen to Mansford's comments as I find it better to avoid them altogether. Just my opinion.
I apologise. If he is funding them himself then I applaud him. We may find out at some point in the future.
The season we got to wembley in the championship play offs or division 1 as it was then we were averaging that sort of support when we were a good championship support but scince then we have never reached them heights unfortunately. Attrndences went down when we went down the league we can take 29 30k to wembley am sure if we got back to being a decent championship side we could pull in them crowds.
We are lucky to have him I have no doubt him and danny will take us back to the championship (maybee not this season)
I can't go into detail but, I said a few weeks ago on here, Cryne has much bigger plans for the Oakwell area (which would no doubt benefit him and the club financially) but a certain local authority think it would dilute the impact of their ambitions half a mile away which look no closer to happening now than they did 15 years ago. It seems private investors are welcome to do business in Barnsley as long as it's nowhere near the town centre.
