And here we are letting the players who won us that match at Cardiff drift away because you lot wont put your hands in your pockets and reward the lads for their efforts last season.(i dread to think what would be happening if we had stayed in league one)It was Colgans save that won us that match and all you can do is say if its not good enough goodbye. I know all about us not having any money ect but surely we could risk a few bob to keep the team together because i for one am feeling really uneasy about the way things are going.

So out of the 7 that were out of contract, 4 have re-signed, 2 are undecided, and 1 has lined his pockets on Riddys latest money train. Personally, a new keeper could be a good thing for us, Colgan had no command of the area at times last season, that's something we can't afford next season against the likes of Hartson.
Regarding new signings, accept the fact that we are mainly limited to out of contract players. With most players' contracts expiring tomorrow, we'd have to pay a fee if we signed anybody today.
Start worrying if we havn't signed anyone in a fortnight tho!!

I'm sure after all the hard work both on and off the field messers Shephard,Cryne and Ritchie will not be prepared to throw it all away. Its in everyones interest we stay and establish ourselfs in the championship.

The truth is that Colgan isn't in a good bargaining position. We have one of the best young keepers in the country waiting to get his chance and the club can probably get a decent second keeper for less money than they've offered Colgan. If I was Colgan I'd get some advice from Darren Barnard who turned down a decent contract to end up on peanuts in Cleethorpes. As for the save in the second half of the final ,wasn't that just makeing up for the howler in the first half. The sad truth is people remember keeper gaffs in big matches, they don't remember the saves,no doubt prospective Managers and Chairman are just the same. He'll regret it if he doesn't sign

We aren't exactly the wealthiest of clubs and we're still not stable regarding our finances so i think it's best that the club are careful over wages - particularly after all the contracts they had to adhere following the Premiership campaign.
Another thing is that you usually get a load of transfer activity after the World Cup has ended, so if we were to purchase anyone i reckon it will be in 2/3 weeks' time?

Doubt the World Cup will affect the likes of us but most players contracts expire at the end of June so next week the merry-go-round should start

one of the most sensible posts i've ever seen

it's not all doom and gloom. surely GS, PC and AR have some kind of plan. I've faith in Andy Ritchie's talent spotting. Let's give it a two weeks and see who's come in.

dead right Durks..and Our Mr Colgan made a lot of howlers to my knowledge

so if you could ,for arguments sake only, take all his fumbling gaffs that cost us....would we have needed to go to Cardiff I wonder????

Knock on effect of World Cup

The World Cup may not affect the likes of us directly, but transfers between bigger clubs will happen once it's finished and only then will those clubs know who they are prepared to send out for a long term loan, or even permanently. Much as I'd like to see us signing players permanently our position will be seen by most as precarious to say the least and so if we can strengthen through loan deals without overcommitting ourselves then it's got to be a large part of our strategy for bringing people in. And if they do well, and we do well, then who knows.

and not only his fumbling Howlers ..what about....

what about the many goals we conceded due to his lack of command of the area and poor positional play.....he would never come for a ball, and was rooted to his line on crosses be them from open play or set pieces. So I wish people would stop making him out to be some wonder keeper.....its not like we hear of other clubs forming a queue outside oakwell clamouring for his signature , now is it??

He made 2 errors all season

1 at Cardiff and 1 at Port Vale. He was the player of the year with about 20 clean sheets for christ sake.

We're all ok, looking forward to end July

    when we go away.

Laura had a decent night, pain relief helped her to sleep. Her knee doesn't seem as painful this morning so she says.
Kev's working weird shifts and lots of overtime.

Hope all's well at your end.
