well I got mine, but I know of stacks who are waiting to see who(if anybody) new we sign... so the promised "Box Office" names are deffinately needed now, or we stick at 5K st sales...not good is it
Did we promise "box office" signings? From what I recall, money would be more likely to be available if "box office" players became available. I've barely heard any names mentioned that would be "box office signings".
I still don't know the difference Box office signings don't just 'become available'. A club isn't handed them on a silver platter. You have to be proactive and go out and get them. If Barnsley offer enough money to another club for a player they want then the player becomes available.
RE: well I got mine, but I know of stacks who are waiting to see who(if anybody) new we sign... The 'box office' comment was made by Patrick Cryne, who as no say in the signings at the club UNLESS he was giving the cash to do so (very much doubt after past comments he made). Think it shouldn't have been said as clearly fans have taken it the wrong way
RE: I still don't know the difference Barnsley dont have the kind of money required to offer another club that will tempt a player
But it was said on the clubs official website The club are the ones who made the decision to release the statement via their official channels</p>
then if the fans have taken this the wrong way, the club should issue another statement.. to say they have no such intentions
if fans have taken it the wrong way I suggest they didn't get a good grade for English comprehension exercises at school. The meaning of what was said is quite clear; "If someone is box office, you are more likely to find the funds than if it is for someone who won't excite the fans. Michael Chopra is absolutely the kind of player I would like to see. He is very popular here." Read - We want Chopra and we'll go the extra mile to get him. Only we were up against Ridsdale who has a reputation of over spending so it was more of an extra 10 miles, so we didn't. That does not in any way mean, or even imply; "Bransley are going out with the express intention of splashing the cash and signing box office players that will bring the crowds in"
How's about Hignett as on off the top of the head one ... We wouldn't have had the money to go and persuade Aberdeen to let him go but when he was unsettled there and looking for a move he became available, whereas previously he wasn't. Not necessarily a silver platter of course but all I took those comments to mean (and clearly I'm in a minority on this one) was that they would make a move for those sorts of players if the chancer arrived, but beyond that there wasn't really much of a transfer budget available.
RE: How's about Hignett as on off the top of the head one ... Your interpretation is correct. Others on here just want to whinge for the sake of it.
