Flu-like symptoms are laying the 29-year-old low. Brighter news from Oakwell is that centre back Lewin Nyatanga has overcome illness and will be fit to face Preston. Barnsley have two home games in the space of three days. Blackpool visit Oakwell on Monday for a game brought forward to feature live on Sky TV. Meanwhile Barnsley defender Bobby Hassell's season starts today. The 27-year-old will play his first game of the campaign for Barnsley Reserves against at Lincoln City this afternoon. Hassell's season has been ruined so far by a knee injury. Said Davey: "He's playing catch up on the rest of the squad but all being well he'll be in contention for the first team. That will depend of the form of the current back four." As expected striker Istvan Ferenczi has been ruled out of Saturday's clash with Preston. He has been sent for a scan on his injured ankle.</div>
I Hope For Two Things If Nick Plays 1. That the fans get behind him and don't get on his case. He will be nervous enough at getting a rare game. 2. That he takes his chance with both hands. A clean sheet or win should help him keep his place.
I hope for two things if he plays as well ...... 1) That he comes off his fecking line and catches a ball: and 2) That regardless of how he plays, Muller is straight back in the team when fit/well
RE: I hope for two things if he plays as well ...... That regardless of how he plays, Muller is straight back in the team when fit/well And what message does that send out? If Colgan plays well then he should keep his place, that's the way it should be with keepers.
RE: I hope for two things if he plays as well ...... 1. Muller does that, but he still let in a goal in his own six yard box against Leicester. I'm not knocking him, I just think a keeper should never allow someone to score from that distance. He let Teddy score inside the six yard box as well at Layer Road. 2. A clean sheet he should keep his place. Dropping someone after a clean sheet, when the other keeper as let in six in three would send out the wrong message.
RE: I hope for two things if he plays as well ...... now I like Colgan, but sadly even if he does keep a clean sheet I feel Davey will be just waiting for a chance to drop him, I think his remaining time at this club is limited
Yes, straight back in the team ..................... .......... for two reasons .......... 1) he's ten times the keeper that Colgan is; and 2) Colgan threw (dropped!) his teddy out of the cot and showed no will to fight or loyalty when he was dropped, i.e. asking for a transfer, so does not deserve any loyalty in return.
Muller hasn't been at fault for the majority ........... ......... of our goals against, De Souza has, and don't talk to me about goalies conceding from 6 yards out, Colgan let in loads like that, he's mastered the art of being anchored to his line while the centre forward had a free header from 3 to 6 yards out.
Muller shits on Colgan. You play your best players when there available simple. Picture this: Howard out with flu - Ricketts comes in and sets up a goal and plays well. Howard is then fit again. Does he come back in the side?
RE: Muller shits on Colgan. Now Howie would get back in, but Ricketts would keep his place at the expense of someone else. When it's one for one with the keepers, it's different.
But what if others played well? Say we beat Preston 3-0. Ricketts set the goal up, Devaney scored, and JCR scored twice. Still play Ricketts? You pick your best side, simple as.
RE: But what if others played well? Then I would drop Ricketts, as setting up a goal isn't as good as scoring, so the other two wouldn't deserve to be dropped
RE: Yes, straight back in the team ..................... Was he teddy throwing or just being realistic?
