Goalkeeping coach Chris Woods was present at Oakwell last night as Barnsley beat newly promoted Bristol City. Whilst keeping an eye on on-loan midfielder Anderson Silva, Woods is also understood to have been looking at German goalkeeper Heinz Müller and the Tykes' highly rated midfielder Brian Howard.

    Amazing

I would be very surprised if premiership teams are already looking at a keeper who's played less than a dozen games so far in this country.

    As the sayings go ..................

you can look but you'd better not touch,

    or

    you can look for nothing.

We need Muller and Howard as we still have a long way to go this season to achieve the aim of staying up(if not the playoffs). Muller sounds to be a very capable goalkeeper and Howard - well he's our "striker" at the moment.

I haven't been able to go to any matches as I'm not having much luck health wise, but from what everyone seems to be saying the team aren't yet "firing on all cylinders". If 4th is what BFC are capable of at the moment without the strikers playing to their potential, then what can be achieved. As I've already said there is a long way to go between now and May 4th 2008 and as we all know it's not all going to be uphill.

Onwards and upwards .......... Come on you Reds!

    Note to BFC:

Please don't sell Howard, Muller etc., we need them. £3m+ in the bank may sound good business sense but just think of the return if we manage to do the unthinkable and reach the heady heights of the Premiership.

its nice to have these so called "hot players" can only make them better players if they think bigger clubs are after them surely

Agree though selling any of the players at the min would be a disaster

    RE: Amazing

They might have been watching him a while....

I'd be very surprised if we were the only team who he'd been recommended to...

Its not unknown for the bigger teams to see how a foreign player settles into a team before making a bid for them... Like Man Utd did with Tevez for example...

Hmm if we got offered £3m now for Howard...thats massive we would have to take it!!! But if we are in the top 6 come Christmas time (which is a very massive if at the moment) then £3m to take away our best player would look far less attractive!

We might be in the top 6 at Xmas but don't bet against Slade being no 1.

Nobody can go anywhere until january. If we are right up there in january then we shouldn't let anybody go for any amount of money (unless it is ridiculous) as promotion would be worth a whole lot more. And if no promotion we can sell them in the summer. Or maybe, just maybe, they might want to stay at Barnsley. Both look happy enough, playing every week, and still getting paid massive salarys. Cant be a bad life.

RE: Schwarzer was a only 22 when he made his big premiership move, where as Muller is 29!!

Schwarzer was a younster and was only starting out where as Muller has been around a bit and is nearing the latter stages of his career....... you maybe right, and who could blame anyone for bidding for him if he contiunues his good run! However, I am sure that Muller will also consider that he is guarenteed the jersey here where as he may be 3rd/4th choice if he moves up a league..... he then needs to decide if he wants to play week in weeke out or cash in!!!
