Can anyone provide a reliable source for reporting of these? I've found comments on this and other boards but the only actual quote I've found is of his denying wearing or discussing wearing a Paraguay shirt during our opening game. I'm not saying it is or isn't true as quite honestly I could believe either, I'm just interested and, Mrs Burgundy Red being a Scot, she doesn't believe he would say such a thing (I don't share her confidence but I still have an open mind).

He was asked who he wanted to win the World Cup and he replied "Anyone but England" - don't have a problem with that myself, why should he want us to win it? He's Scottish....I wouldn't believe him if he did say he wanted us to win it.

    The Scottish....

Are a bunch of bitter Barstewards, and I'm allowed to say that because I have to deal with the deep fried Barstewards everyday :)

    The gobshite known as Murray.....

There's a full page article about his comments in the Evening Standard, which goes on even further to pick fault with the Jocks' parliament etc. Apparently Murray said in a recent website posting he'd be supporting "anyone but England" at the World Cup. He then attempted to cover it up later by sating "I made a joke. I don't mind if England win or lose". Who said the Scots were a bunch of po-faced meanies eh?
The article then goes on about not expecting the Jocks to 'support' England, but it's the snidey remarks such as Murray's that pisses them off. Personally, i think he's a jumped up brat - once saying "I'm Scottish not British" amongst other delights, and for some reason he's always ill or injured!! What's that all about?

There's a huge difference between not caring who wins and specifically wanting England to lose. If it's the latter then he's obviously British when playing tennis and Scottish when watching football and he needs to make his mind up.

I'm not sure he calls himself British as such. It's the English media that refer to him as British. If he was a crap tennis player with no potential then I'm sure he would be portrayed as 'Scotland's Andy Murray', but because the guy has obvious talent and could be a potential Grand Slam winner, he is British not Scottish.

That's the way it should be, don't want that lot getting all the credit for a half decent sportsman :pff

Too right :pff .. Can't understand why Scots escape to england then are fiercely proud to be Scots. If it's so f***ing great, go home.

My Uncle Knobhead (thanks to Peter Kay) is Scottish but has lived in England for over 50 years. His four kids who were ALL born here in England claim to be Scottish FFS.

Then maybe he should make his feelings towards the English clear to the thousands of English tennis fans whose goodwill and support he enjoys.

Perhaps he should make his feelings clear. I'm not sure it would make any difference to English Tennis fans who are so desparate for success that they embraced a canadian as British. Aparently, the LTA are now trying to persuade a promising Slovakian to become 'British'.
