Seen it on tv and just as I thought from the back of the ponty, good tackle, a touch, tiny touch clumsy, debatable free-kick, not even a yellow. Wigan players and a weak poor ref get him sent off!! We need to get him match fit and Scunny is an ideal chance!
i just really hope he learns from it. will he be available for scunny? thought a straight red was an instant ban?
If we appeal, he could play the scunny match & risk a extra 1 game ban. Or don't appeal & he'll miss the next 3 games. Personally I wouldn't appeal, we not the favorite football club to the Fa are we.
I never thought it was a red card tackle, a yellow at best, and I sit at the back of the Ponty. Match after match, season after season we are having weak, poor and incompetent refs affect games and this is the second tier of English professional football not Sunday morning up Worsbrough Common. I'm getting really fed up with it.
Or ffs Going to ground wile leading with your feet is deemed to be reckless & dangerous and will result in the offender being dismissed, that's the rules It matters not if he got the ball touched the man or if you think it was a red or not, that sort of challenge is outlawed, any appeal will fail on the grounds of that type of challenge is now deemed to be illegal
He didn't lead with his feet, nor did he go to ground making the challenge, he went to ground afterwards.
It wouldnt get overturned if we appealed it. No point was a naughty tackle and it looked like a frustrated lunge too. Have to take this one on the chin and hope he learns a lesson from it.
my take at the time was it was a bit clumsy and he won the ball, thought it was a yellow at most. it was the reaction of Wigan that got him sent off
Nobody mentions that the ball was loose, the player who went down wasn't in possession and clearly wasn't as committed to winning the ball as Jennings. We had a great view of it from the West upper and genuinely thought he had been sent off for raising his hands to Watson, who actually started it and got away with murder all afternoon. I don't think it was the ideal time to give Jennings his debut, DF said he wasn't quite match fit/sharp and he was clearly over-excited. The Scunny match would have been ideal for him, hindsight and all that. I think he's going to be a gem, let's give him some support.
Sorry but its a dreadful decision. 1 footed, won the ball, and the referee reacted to what happened in the aftermath - there is no chance that his initial reaction was to send him off. If that's reckless and dangerous we may as well just ban the slide tackle.
