but the point is Dave 3 seasons of struggling, how many more. You cannot seriously believe that this is progress. How long will Mr Cryne stomach this, its gonna be a hard sell to the fans next season to get their hard earned cash to watch a relegation fight. Hre has tried the freebies to kids ...what next.
Rather struggle in the championship than league 1 again Hated that alehouse league! Having said that a comfortable year next season would be nice
Kept us out of league 1 ... that'll do for me for now Lot harder league than the one we left.... financially we are a small fish in a big pond
Don't you think Daveys signings just get better and better! The way they played for each other yesterday showed we are not far from being a decent team. A bit more patience (I know you ain't got none Dragon) and I reckon there will be no struggle next season.
How many of the current squad are contracted to Barnsley next season? As well as the loan players, I think the likes of Hassell, Steele & Moore are all out of contract this summer. There may be others, too. Also, even if players ARE contracted to Barnsley next season, how many will have to moved on to avoid another Brian Howard scenario being repeated (players out of contract in 2010 being sold to avoid them leaving on a free transfer)? I'm not saying you're wrong in your assessment for next season, just that there's a multitude of potential obstacles to be overcome first before your prediction could materialise. You're right with regards to the loan signings getting better. Mifsud, Andranik & Hammill are superior players to Simon Davey's previous loan signings of Rigters, Teale & Whaley. But then it'd have been difficult for them to be less effective.
RE: How many of the current squad are contracted to Barnsley next season? I don't think the signing or re-signing of players is something to worry about with Davey its what he does with them once he has them. What we don't need to start a season with half a squad again. Buying quality instead of quantity is always going to hit you at some part of the season with injurys,if we had started the season with Colace in the side and Anderson fit we would have a few extra points on board and pretty much safe by now. You will never keep some fans happy, wanting free flowing football when we are not safe would be like pressing the self destruction button.
You don't? We'll have to agree to disagree on that score then, mate. Simon Davey has brought in some very good players, but a large percentage of his signings have been poor in relation to their performances, or the number of games they've actually played. You rate him as a manager, I don't. C'est la vie.
