I wish you the very best of luck for the rest of the season. We threw bodies on the line today, and our lads (most who have been with us a few seasons) knew that our cup reputation weighed heavy on them after defeats to witton,Trafford and even worse on the TV to the whole of the country to Blyth 4-1 (3 leagues below us)last season. We were due one and you were unlucky enough to be on the end of it. Your manager comes across as a young lad having a go at it on the back of his dad. We've seen lots of u21 ex Man Utd types come through the doors here, technically good, but not in the real field of battle. Wether he stays or goes we wish you well and full respect to the 800 that came and endured that and frankly ridiculous weather conditions. 19th in the conference looks terrible, but via injuries and a really tough start we are in a false position in the league, not that it's any consolation. You were a credit to yourselves both at the ground and around the town, good luck for the rest of the season, the only way is up from here. x
Made up for you guys - really... Its normally us the do the toppling of the bigger club a la chelsea and liverpool so not going to take anything away from you. Our club is in a right old mess so you couldnt have played us at a better time. Good luck in Round 2.
Thanks for that. You're right, the weather was atrocious. Good luck to Alty in the next round. You deserved the victory today, no complaints from me on that. Much the better side throughout. I sincerely hope thats as bad as it gets for us, because it is certainly as bad as we have ever seen. I hope that it spells the end for Lee Johnson as he is a terrible manager with no redeeming qualities at all. But I fear that the board aren't listening. If it carries on, our next visit to Alty will be a league game, and it won't be long coming. Good luck for the rest of the season mate.
Well done today and thanks for all your posts leading up to the game. Good luck in the next round. Also, don't judge us as the benchmark as to the standard of teams in League One. We're in so much disarray at the moment that I don't think Alty even had to raise their game to beat us today. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
All the best to Alty for the season. You deserved to win today. Hope you get a favourable draw in round 2, get through and get yersen a plum draw in rnd 3.
Well done! Enjoyed visiting the ground today - the bar in the home end was very pleasant and the beer cheap and tasty - even that was better than the fare available at Oakwell! All the best for the rest of the season.
Thanks for being so kind to us. It's like getting condolences from a stranger though when someone close dies a long, lingering death. Something you say in your post really hits home very hard... and I do not want to sound snobbish or patronising... you were beaten by Witton, Trafford and Blyth. Oh my good lord above, how far have we, FA cup semi finalists seven years ago, fallen into disgrace. I'm ashamed tonight to be a Barnsley fan, of nearly 50 years standing. Good luck to you.
As a standalone result, getting knocked out by a part-time side would be bad. Very bad. But it happens, every season a couple of league clubs fall victim to a non league team, and if we'd been mid-table or had won a couple of games previous it wouldn't be that bad. The fact it's come during the worst run in most fans' memories, when lifelong supporters are losing faith in the club and choosing not to go, then a defeat at Altrincham in the pissing rain in the first round of the cup probably is about as bad as it gets. Full credit where it's due though. Well done Alty, totally deserved and you managed it without really having to chuck bodies on the line, such was the ineptness of our "team". Good luck in the next round and in the Conference this season.
Good luck in the next round. Thanks for the post. Many BFC fans will be wanting you to progress. Our only consolation is that we might have gone out to the winners of the cup!
