Apparently we've just played 3 of them. We didn't win any of them. And yet we're left in a position where if we do win a game it could take us clear of the relegation places. I'm starting to believe football fans may be guilty of hyperbole.
We need an absolute minim of 4 points to stay up, and our 3 remaining games are all against promotion contenders. It’s not hyperbole to say we’re knackered.
I've just crunched it. If Wigan beat hull and lose their other two. And Luton draw with hull and lose the other two. And Hull lose their third match you would have Wigan 45, Luton 45, Hull 46 so with a 4 GD swing to Hull 46 would do it. #clutchingatstraws
Forest will be assured of a playoff place when we face them. Potential resting players, or having first team players not wanting to get sent off or injured. Potentially the same for Brentford as well. Although with that one I’d rather we beat Leeds and go to Brentford with everything on the line than lose to Leeds and everything be on the line for only us.
And I now am certain we will be relegated. I know we are not yet mathematically down but realistically I think we are. I don’t even think that we will have anything other than pride to play for at Brentford. We had to win at least one of those last 3 games 2 if we lost one and we didn’t Please feel free to bump if the club make me look a fool by winning the next 2
The funny thing is. We’re actually closer to being safe than at anytime in the last five months I think. As always, it’s the hope that kills you.
When we beat QPR I thought anything was possible. Now, whilst not mathematically down (though I haven't looked at the table in a while) I just can't see it.
I was pretty much resigned to relegation before we kicked a ball in August, but as Loko says, we're closer to safety now than we have been for months. The good thing about the relegation race is that there are always others just as bad your own team who also appear desperate to throw away any chance of safety. You often have to do very little to claw your way out of it. We're not very good, but we're not alone in that.
West Brom dropping points against Blackburn could turn out really badly if it means Brentford need to get something out of the last game to secure automatic promotion. Let’s pray both they and Forest are resting players for the playoffs.
The way Brentfotd are playing they'll be title contenders on the last day. Same for Leeds, there'll be no weakened teams against us. I'd play Halme, Oduor and Mowatt in midfield against Leeds - They've all got something to prove against their old club.
You're trying to re-live that moment where you criticized the manager for bringing on Halme, 2 minutes before he scored. Like your thinking.
