From what I've seen so far, he defo needs to be in starting 11 week in week out.

He's looked good. Won every header and put in a couple of last ditch tackles. Doesn't look very agile though.

Quick and good on the deck too. A couple of shows of decent distribution too. Slightly ironic cheer with every clearing header. Looks well in the shirt.

"Go JeanYves Go Go, JeanYves B. Goode!!" There's his song, someone was asking for one.

His physical presence certainly complements Cranie and Kennedy in a back 3. Looks to be strong in the tackle (needed to time that one right in the penalty area! excellent tackle), and as expected, dominant in the air. Only first impressions of course.

I agree with Flicker, he seems to be pretty quick/mobile too.

I expect he'll play more games when his physical presence is needed. Good to now have the option when last season we struggled against bigger teams. Useful at the other end I hope too.

Except we're playing 4 at the back.

This isn't really an ideal opposition for him either. They rely on quick passing and pace rather than a battering ram centre forward.

you say he does not look agile, however

he seems to be in the right place at the right time. Seemingly he is reading the game well. That can offset any agility issues. We now have some really good options in our central defence at last. The main guys being Cranie, M'Voto and Nyatanga IMHO. Its all feeling good... and that's worrying me...can this really be us, are we gonna be a class act ... oh God please let it be so. Reds fans have been through the mill enough.

he impressed me enough to start on saturday. very assured against a quality opposition, great in the air, quick to recover. impressed

Looks a really good player! I think with the squad we have going into the season can see us floating more around mid table than around the bottom fighting for our life's!

M'Voto did really well, their attackers won nothing in the air when he was nearby, he seemed to effortlessly clear the danger, looked decent on the ball and didn't look as slow as had been suggested. A very different player to our other defenders and it's just what we need as we do struggle against teams with lads of his size in the team. Think that's why we struggled against Wednesday, one of the poorest footballing sides I saw last season but they played to one of our biggest weaknesses twice and beat us.

Based on tonight he must be ahead of Nyatanga to start alongside Cranie first match.

Agreed, looks a very good defender. Only time will tell, but on yesterdays showing he looks a good buy.
