He will be the commanding centre half of the squad this year...... He gradually improved last year and he'll do so again imho.
I think so too. Had a very good end to the season and seemed to be improving game on game. Hopefully he'll have the knowledge of how to take on this league and be able to combine it with the experience of last season.
And if he does that he'll be gone in January, we need him to be like he was last few months of last season, with a massive mistake every two or three games then we keep a settled squad all season .
Personally I think our defence has been better without Craine at the heart of it... Don't get me wrong I think he's a decent lad, but he was out injured during flickers fantastic run and back end last term when we looked more solid at the back. As I remember when he signed, he was a utility man. Generally right full back for Coventry, and in Barnsley career we initially played him in defensive midfield role. Could he be our David Luis i.e. Talented lad but not a natural centre half. IMHO next season I would play him at rb or in midfield where I feel he could be dominant. Break up play and win physical battles.
Every time Cranie has played at right back, he's been dreadful for me. I think we never really got a settled centre half partnership last season due to injuries and dips in form, I think Cranie needs someone like M'Voto next to him, someone who wins all the areal battles, because the one thing really lacking from Cranie's game in my opinion, is his lack of presence in the air.
The problem with M'Voto doing that is he's usually way out of position having won the header, he also doesn't get anywhere near the distance he should for such an aerial defender and because of the huge gap behind him, Cranie (or whoever) is usually massively exposed. Great that he wins the header, but it's the resulting weakness because of his poor awareness and ability to recover back into a solid defensive position. I'd play Nyatanga and Cranie every time ahead of M'Voto. I don't think we should picking players purely on comedic value.
Everyone has off games. He was an absolute rock at the back end of last season. Did you go to Charlton away? He was phenomenal.
If he has the form from the end of the season he'll go OK. If he plays like he did the first half of the season we're bang in trouble. His 45 minutes at Forest were absolutely cringeworthy. By all accounts he needs a 'talker' at the side of him telling him what to do.
I'm with you, a decent month at the back end of the season has made everyone forget just how many **** up's he made last season. Hopefully he'll be better in the league below but no he's not better than Cranie or Nyatanga
