After THAT goal yesterday which is all over YouTube, Farcebook and everywhere else, I think Paddy McCourt will now be a marked man and teams will kick him like Brown v Butterfield. This will start with the Fowls next week, they'll be scared stiff of him. I really do worry that sooner or later he is going to get injured. We might get a few free kicks and pens but we'll lose a class player.
Very true but I'm sure that opposing teams will right now be concentrating on how to nullify him. Up to now the best way seems to be to put some gut rot potion in his pre-match tea.
He played an average of 20 game a season, if you look at his stats for Celtic, so half a season he's missing. Now why is that. We know its not because he's *****...So according to one or two on here, he likes a wet..so maybe he's still in the pub and misses a few kick offs. Or as the OP fears, defenders he's made to look a cu*t don't let him do it twice. And defenders who have got an heads up, which after yesterday will be everybody, wont want him to do the same again to them... Same as the guess the crowed comp....if he plays next week..maybe they owt to be a..how long before Pat gets a kick competition..cos a marked man, he will definitely be..t'old DJ wont want to lose next week, by hook or by crook..
Well lets hope they are focused on McCourt then Mellis, O'Grady, Pederson can just make em look stupid...
That's a key point, we've got players all over who are dangerous to them, they can't mark or kick them all. As long as we attack them we will score a goal or two.
I'm just glad We have a player who is such a joy to watch and a serious threat to opponents, after seeing a multitude of grey, run of the mill, automatons over these past few years. However, I don't doubt there'll be enough who won't appreciate him and his talent, looking to decry his contribution & worth at every opportunity.
Re: I'm just glad Aye, it's been a long time. Hignett is the last such player I can remember. JCR was close until he started playing left back. Then there was that Scottish bloke from many years ago but I can't remember his name.
Re: I'm just glad David Currie's dribbling abilities & goalscoring were a joy to watch when he was in his pomp. Was the Scot you were thinking of Billy Connolly?
Re: I'm just glad How could I forget Vaz Te? Biggest laugh that season was when they clobbered Butterfield, only to find Vaz Te coming on and blasting a hat-trick. Brilliant tactics from L***s hee hee.
I don't think his missing games was due to injury, its just the managers didn't fancy him week in week out. The thing with McCourt is its either brilliant or its sh*t, and some managers don't think they can afford the 70 minutes of not really contributing for the 10 minutes of genious. Now, that's not MY feeling, but I think it is the reigning philosophy in football at the minute - especially in the UK - its all about "the team" and not about individuals. I would be absolutely stunned if most managers in the Championship didn't know exactly who PM was/is. I bet he's been scouted more times then Baden Powel, Liverpool were going to sign him when he was playing for Derry City. Like I say, he doesn't fit the mould of the modern footballer and as such, most won't take a risk on him. Glad we did though!!!
well if the Piggies are worrying over him then maybe... they will forget all about O'Grady and thus he will bag a hat-trick.
I agree but he does seem to have that Georgie Best [ not comparing him to the greatest player I have seen] type centre of gravity that allows him to ride tackles. With best some of the hardest players I have seen chopper Harris Tommy Smith and a few more tried but Best was seldom injured
