1. We have the single worst set of fans in the country. Not only apathetic, but also quiet, fickle and short-sighted. 2. Getting Barnsley fans to buy in to a new footballing philosophy is going to be very difficult, judging by some of the thick lovely personts who were urging the team to "go long" after the first 30 mins. 3. It will be a very hard season for us, but if the fans turn their backs on the team as quickly as they did last night then we will be making the task even harder. 4. The booing was a frikkin disgrace. Yes the performance was very poor and disappointing, but we did the same against Rochdale last year. Booing your own team, in a new manager's first home game is disgraceful, especially after an excellent result on Saturday.
Maybe they thought that the direct route may bear more fruit. Someone with a different opinion to yours doesn`t deserve being labelled like that.
I cant wait to get to Oakwell at the weekend, I've missed the insane ramblings from some of the idiots who sit around me. If we're not winning 3-0 by half time it will be the same old shouts... Hill tha **** come and sit wi me, Wiseman tha **** come and sit wi me, Addison tha **** come and sit wi me. Oh how I've missed Mr Angry who sits a couple of rows behind me.
"Booing your own team, in a new manager's first home game is disgraceful, especially after an excellent result on Saturday" "We have the single worst set of fans in the country. Not only apathetic, but also quiet, fickle and short-sighted" I heard Forest were booed off the pitch on saturday having failed to beat a team who were better than them according to a few match reports that I've heard and read. We are no worse than many other fans. I never boo, but if other fans want to show what they think of the performance at the end of the game, I don't see a problem with it.
We're not the only club with fickle fans that's for sure. I think it's a tad unfair to judge the fans who've turned up on a Tuesday night against lower league opposition and watched absolute drivel. If anything, it's the fans that didn't turn up that deserve the brunt of the criticism. I do agree with points 2 and 3 to extent though. This is a new style, a new philosophy and the fans have to be patient and get behind the team. Hill strikes me as a man who won't change his mind or bow to pressure so we'll have to like it or lump it. Patient, gradual build up is here to stay. In my opinion it's for the best. I predict there will be a few home games where we'll go home frustrated as we're lacking in creativity in goals up front and teams sitting back like Morecambe did is as much of a hindrance than a team opening up and attacking us. I'm not someone who boos. I can't actually remember the last time I did boo. However, if ever I was tempted it was last night. Perhaps not during the game when the players need all the support they can get but when the match is finished and we've been comfortably beaten by Morecambe I don't think it's unacceptable for the fans to let Hill know that it's not good enough.
