He plays for Barugh under 7's... They drew with Darfield Dynamo's 2-2 You ought to see how far I stuck my chest out!!! He's got 7 in 8 games so far this season...
when I were a kid I used to score 20 goals most sunday afternoons adults organising kids football games WRONG WRONG WRONG
how hard is it to make a couple of posts and get the mates round??

It's the way it is nowadays. I'd rather the matches were just played and no leagues. You're not allowed to publish league tables for u7's now, in Holland you don't have leagues until u11's. Better to let the kids play and learn but too many junior coaches are far too competitive. And as for the parents, should drop the kids off and then pick them up an hour later!
RE: It's the way it is nowadays. I'd rather the matches were just Thats a good point, but we live in a very competitive world and we have to teach our kids to be so. I watch my 2 boys every weekend without fail. My 9 year old is centre half and regularly gets MOM. My 7 year old is an attacking midfielder who last time out scored 7 goals for his club Scotton Scorchers. Proud or what.
I don't like them playing the same age groups either I learn't more by playing against bigger kids than I ever learnt from any half arsed disinterested coach who only really cared for his own kid/s
Another of my pet hates I'm afraid, positions for 7 year olds! I swap my players round so they play in different positions, means we might not get as good results as we could but they get all get chances and they all get to play at least a half a game.
I know what you're all saying, but... my lad loves it and he can't wait for training or matches... That all I care about, its not about the parents or coaches its about the kids. I don't force him to go, and the first time he doesn't want to thats fine by me.
In Holland they have 2 year age groups. Team we played yesterday were all big lads, they have several teams. We only have one team in the age group and half of them are quite small, makes a big difference. Smaller ones hardly get a kick in the games, I tend to give them half a game and leave the bigger ones on or we'd be getting beaten in double figures each week.
Exactly, the kids love it, they're competitive without league tables and parents shouting at them and all that ****, leave em to it.
RE: In Holland they have 2 year age groups. Team we played My 7 year old brother is way in front of the rest of his team. Scores for fun, and can do tricks with the ball that I can only dream of!! (and that's from ex semi pro ff ff ). Serious though, he can't understand why we get on at him that he still needs to pass even though the others aren't as good. I encourage him to try different positions rather than upfront every game. On a sour note, not nice to see parents from the opposite team encourage others players to take him out before the games even started.
Parents are a total pain. 2 parents took their kids away from my team last year, even though we'd finished 2nd in the league and won a tournament too. They didn't like it cos I didn't have set positions, they would always have been the 2 strikers, while I wanted to play them elsewhere so they could get used to tackling as they were poor at it. Found out the other week one of them had been kicked off both the Huddersfield and Bradford squads cos he couldn't tackle! Parents.
