We know how good Bobbins is at grinding out results. Since it would take an extraordinary set of results for them to go down (they are 25/1) they can go 4-5-1and play for the draw, slow the game down etc. Whilst we are good against the better teams who come to play their own game and under estimate us, we have performed very poorly against the teams that set themselves up to not get beat. I can see us getting a frustating 0-0, and i think Peterborough will have more influence on what league we are in next year, but that depends on how Palace play against them, and depends on how millwall play against them. Assuming we get a draw - thats 55 points with a -14 GD. I honestly don't know what result i would prefer on Tuesday. It depends whether a Palace team needing a win are more likely to win against Peterborough, than Derby (with nothing to play for) beating Millwall. For Millwall to go down they would need to lose by 4 goals over the 2 games. But Palace have only picked up 4 points out of their last 8 games. I just hope that if Palace manage a win on tuesday it is by 3 goals, so that a Derby win next saturday puts Millwall below us on goals scored if we can manage a draw. Win at huddersfield and the permutations and combinations are irrelevant, but I don't think we will win.
It's certainly not going to be an easy game. However, we have a much better chance of breaking a team down now than we had under Hill. We get the ball forward early and put the opposition under pressure rather than passing it along the back four to no effect. All it needs is us to get lucky with an O'Grady flick on and we'll get a goal. To break a team down under Hill's tactics we'd have needed some sublime one touch passing followed by a great final ball and finish. Of course, that never happened. If Huddersfield play for a point then I can see us winning. We have plenty of pace at the back so it shouldn't be too much of a problem stopping the counter. But if someone offered me a 0-0 draw now, I might be inclined to take it. Whatever anyone says about Peterborough, Palace are odds on favourites to win that match. We might also get lucky with Millwall. What would be an awful scenario is if Peterborough were a couple of goals down while our game was 0-0. We push on thinking we'll need a win before conceding. Peterborough stay up on goal difference. I hope Flicker brings a radio with him!
