Just been emailing an oversees friend who asked how Barnsley were doing this season ...this is what I sent him but after reading through it it makes you wonder: "Under Ritchie we were playing some great attacking stuff, not finishing (bit of bad luck there) and had a poor defence. Now under the new Academy manager we don't attack, still have a crap defence and don't fight in a game. To say I am a little worried is an understatement ....Only Barnsley can miss-handle the management side of things this bad!!!!!!!!!!! Relegation seems more realistic now than ever and when I said before I was always confident under Ritchie we would turn it around I honestly believed it. Season events so far: 1. Barnsley play some great football and have the best attacking stats in the division 2. Barnsley show dogged fighting spirit to come from behind in matches and take all the points 3. Bad luck / Poor Finishing combined with a poor defence means we start slipping down the table. 4. Barnsley batter rivals Sheff Wed at Hillsborough with only 10 men but lose out to a last minute speculative strike! 5. Barnsley continue to play great football but defensively look naive (Derby away!) 6. Barnsley come from behind agains rivals Leeds winning a great match 3-2 7. Chairman ousts manager Ritchie quoting he wont buy players and we need a more experienced manager to keep us in the division 8. Simon Davey (Academy manager) put in charge 9. Barnsley win a couple of expected home games (Not convincingly) 10. Barnsley are embarrassing against local rivals the Fowls, Wednesday win 3-0 without fight or passion shown by the reds. 7. Day after the disgraceful debacle against rivals our chairman puts the NON EXPERIENCED academy guy in full charge as manager!! (Talk about rubbing salt in the wounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) 8. News years day we fail to show up again at Molineux, we ship another 2 goals and lose taking us into the bottom 3! As I said .... Only Barnsley can mis-handle the management side so badly!
Agree... the only thing to change since the departure of Ritchie is that were playing badly now. With Ritchie in charge there was always a chance we'd score, and we'd always be competetive.</p>
I have to agree. Cannot see how we have progressed since giving Ritchie the sack. Felt the club let him and us down so badly.
