yeah ive heard summit like that, i can see quite a few more getting sold by end of the week i was hoping wed sell about the 2000 mark
This is what usually happens. 'Away fans are housed in the Barn Park End, which is now all seated and covered. As you would expect from a new stand the facilities and views of the playing action are both good. The normal allocation for this end is 1,300 seats, although this can be increased to 2,022, if demand requires it.'
Would be nice if the club were to make a gesture ....& buy the remaining tickets. That way, people wanting them would obviously be able to get them - even up to the last day. But more importantly the club, having sold its entire allocation could "beam back" the game to Oakwell allowing those unable to travel to watch this vital game. Loads would want to see it surely? Obviously more tickets will be sold up until matchday and any shortfall to the club for the purchase of the tickets could be made up in the entrance fee for the beam-back and sales of food etc in the ground. Lets be honest, they could actually make money. Perhaps it's just a fans way of thinking???
Thing is ...its the same at virtually every club. No ideas re: customer service - we're just habitual cash-cows to them. If they actually thought about treating their fans/customers correctly then you'd be even more inclined to part with the hard-earned. I know I would.
We havent even heard about plans for season tickets for next year yet - obviously awaiting our fate, but most other clubs have used a lot of inventive ideas for ticket selling - Barnsley oh no, worst marketing and run business ever, cant even purchase tickets online in this day and age who would have thought it!
...some people are going to go whatever. Some never go away. But for a game of this importance I've no doubt they'd go to Oakwell to watch it on a big screen. As for the catering, that's just icing on the cake for the club imo. The outside contractors though would only be contracted for "home" games surely & i'm sure the club could get around it & provide their own - cans & pies are pretty easy to source and serve. We've done it a few times in the past & from what I can remember the big screen & beam back costs around £15k - the club would have to guestimate a likely attendance and look at their margins.
...we're not good at it either tbh mate - but you can bet your life we get our s/t's out early. Had to reserve mine in December & commit to paying before the end of January!!! In fact, the last of 4 monthly payments has gone out of my bank :'( - or is that ?? We just had the last league game at our ground & the "celebrations" that followed could have been thought up & planned that morning for all you knew - yet apparently two staff had been planning it for a year. There's uproar about it down here even now. Lets be honest, your average fan is like a drug addict awaiting his next fix - but these clowns can't be arsed to come up with the goods to feed the habit. Couldn't see messers Benson & Hedges or JD Wetherspoon making the same mistakes could you?
Our football club even managed to make a mess of hiring cheerleaders (bear with me here) and then forcing one of them to sing 'Daydream Believer' over the actual track and change some of the words - oh yes! Cringe worthy indeed, put me right off my pocket shuffle! We dont even offer Season ticket installment plans either!
fridays the 1st of may so a lot of people will be getting paid thursday so i should think we will sell out friday or saturday
