My CD’s are split up into packaging therefore plastic cases, card cases, plastic cases in card covers and box sets are all kept together. Then I sort them alphabetically within each type except for dance, soundtracks and compilations which have their own groups. My Vinyl is sorted differently, firstly into artist location and then by artist, starting with albums and then 12 inches. I then order these by quantity except for artists where I have a single album and then I organise them by genre at the end of the quantity section. 7 inches are stored separately and in alphabetical order. I don’t have any cassette tapes. This organisation works for me but I wouldn’t tell you to organise your music this way.
You can have mine for that price but I want paying every time a track gets played;every time a track gets copied to another device;every time you share a track and a percentage of any future money from any sales of my collection. If any track gets played on national radio then its double your money time
I don't have 7 of each cd specifically but I may have the same album in a different format or packaging and they are then organised in a different area But hands up you've caught me red handed. I admire what you are trying to do however unless you get the buy in of everyone on board (highly unlikely) and/or someone religiously categories each thread (and I'm sure you've got better things to do) then I feel it causes more confusion than what you are trying to achieve. Being a little proactive may help but even this I feel would take a little flavour from the board. I think you guys do a good and thankless job so it's up you on how you want to manage and organise it but I just think this is something we could do without. Good luck.
