My new approach to life (at the risk of being a bit self-obsessed)

The last couple of weeks have given me all the evidence I need to realise that life is too short.

    - a close friend who has had Hodgkins Lymphoma, and whose husband has chronic sarcoidosis, is preparing her 6 year old son for a kidney transplant in the next 2 weeks. Make or break.

    - the mother of a close friend (possibly the most active woman I know of that age) has been given 3 months to live. Brain Tumour.

Meanwhile 4 friends / colleagues have all been off sick with work related stress - they just can't cope with the volume of work thrown at them.

It doesn't make sense & whilst we all know life kicks you in the teeth, I am making a conscious effort now to make the most of it now. Never again will work dictate my life; and I'm going to let all my mates know what they mean to me .... even if it means forwarding "angel" e mails. So if you're a mate of mine, prepare for lots of affection & fun nights out!! This girl is ready to make the most of life!!

Aye, but if yer think abart it, it's still a load of old ballacks.

We're an evolutionary off-shoot of monkeys (Dee-dahs & Pikeys haven't quite got that far though), living on a slab of rock thats floating on Magma, which meks up part of a big round lump of rock thats spinning faster that a Reliant Robin, and orbiting a star with a finite lifespan.

And we haven't signed enough players.

Who are these "2 old men"?

I'm not one of them, no way! My Dad is 85 and going strong, now that's "old". If someone keeps describing themselves as "old" maybe eventually they will behave "old". I do neither.

Anyway, forget that new degree course. Instead, why don't you do a course on how to send and receive texts? :D

    Well it's not me!

I'm the same age as Guest 42. And Guest 42 would become violent if anyone were to describe her as "old"

I'm not old. I'M NOT OLD!!!!!

    What, she'd frown?

Somehow violent & Guest 42 don't fit right.

    RE: violent

Yes I suppose you are right. But Guest 42 just has a big thing about people who think they are old before their time - it's the exact opposite of the way she likes to live her life, to the full. I like to think I'm the same. All joking apart, it's great to feel and act young, regardless of what the calendar says.

ANyway, when is she back? I need to send her some e mails about friendship, angels etc, and rope her into my new hedonistic lifestyle.

And thats the way to live FI

My sis had a heart attack 13 years ago at the age of 33 and had to have a triple heart bypass. 4 years later she had to go for another one doing but when they opened her up they said that her heart was too bad to do owt with and put her on the transplant list. Despite on a concoction of 18 tablets a day and due to that any cold or flu going she gets it, she lives life to the full and is probably one of the most happy going person i know. She wakes up like every day as it's the last. Made me realise that life is to short to not live it while having fun
