Thought we were OK tonight. I'm not as disappointed as after the Coventry match.
Obviously PNE have carried out a profession job on Barnsley tonight.

Potter was an improvement on Kozluk. But Potter still has much to learn. He got caught out a few times which cost us.

Hamil needs to be dropped for a few matches. He was garbage tonight.

Odejayi - what can you say about this guy that hasn't been said a thousand times.
He aint good enough - BUT - he's the only player in the squad thats big, strong and fast and is a forward.
So we have no other options available.
Davey is looking to bring competition in for that position with Andy Gray
Why Why Why hasn't Davey let Odejayi go in the close season and brought TWO players in for that position i.e. one and a spare

When the subs were warming up it was obvious we haven't a strong squad - young Barnsley players warming up at the side of seasoned PNE professionals

:) :) :)

I partially agree with you Nudge

I think we played better than we did against Coventry, in terms of shots on target, chances to put balls away, and several goalmouth scrambles that we just couldn't get through.

Unfortunately there's the rub - we cannot put our chances away and other teams can. That's our problem.

Agree that performance was better, if you look at the opening 10-15 minutes you would have thought we could have gone and won the game.
For me, the defence looks shocking. We can't seem to defend set pieces and nobody seems to be taking command of the area. Potter did well at times, still got abit to learn though.

I mainly agree...

... I went with a PNE fan and he was of the opinion that we did not get any luck at all. I thought the performance was far better than Saturday.

exactly that - we're not clinical enough

I thought we played well at times and 3-0 flatters Preston

Hamill and JCR need to turn it on - it's not happening for either of them at the moment

My main point is this............

How can we hope to win when:

We have a winger brought in thats going to solve most of our problems and we are still waiting for him to put a proper full shift in

We have a young lad whos a bit nervous and was up against a good winger
But I think Potter will come good

And we have only one striker at the club that is tall, fast and strong but unfortunatly that player is not a footballer
How many times did we pass the ball about and looked good only for the ball to be lost when someone decided now was the time to hoof it into the middle for Odejayi - This tactic is obviously being spoon fed to the players from Davey
IT DON'T FOOOKING WORK !!!

Simply this

Tonight - 14 attempts on goal, 7 on target.

PNE - 8 attempts on goal, 6 on target.

Saturday, 4 attempts at goal, 1 on target.

We can argue all we like about the ins and outs of performances, but it's goals that count, and tonight we had more chances than we created on Saturday.

I call that a better performance from that perspective. But I agree we are weak everywhere on the pitch and prospects look bleak at the moment.

We'd still be waiting to score now, that's how bad it was! Of the 7 shots on target, I can't think of many that really tested the keeper.
What worries me is that we haven't yet played a decent team

The header by Moore straight at their keeper from a free kick

if that was a yard either side it would have been 1-2 with 40 minutes left. I think we may have seen a different game.

We were easy on the eye in possession at times tonight but there is no backbone in the team and no penetration, it's all nice passing in safe areas of the field and nothing where it really counts.

The defence looks full of holes and can give a goal away at any time, Colace badly needed to help them out. The midfield is so weak both in terms of physical strength and mentally (Anderson tossed it off all game Saturday and today, and the wingers, abysmal!) . In 2 home games I can't recall any of em winning a tackle.

Hume still isn't ready although his delivery from set pieces was good (he must have put 10 excellent crosses in second half & we still didn't score). Oddy is the worst centre forward I've ever seen at Oakwell, anyone who defends him as a player needs to get real, the guy will NEVER, EVER be good enough at this level or even the level below, sure he won a few headers but that's all he did and none went towards a player in a red shirt.

Davey's last substitution was also baffling, why bring Deveney on at 0-3? He knows what he can (or can't) do. Why not give one of the young lads 20 minutes to see if they've got owt to offer?

The club is a joke at the minute, we've let players go who fair enough weren't good enough but we've started the season with a weaker squad and we're into a relegation scrap in bloody August!! I looked at Preston's squad in the programme which is smaller than ours but they've got quality subs, not kids and a player who couldn't get a regular game at York City.

Hopefully we'll have 3 new players available on Saturday but they should have been in place weeks ago.
