Looked to be the best player by far during pre season and was never given a chance by Davey. For months he's been overlooked in favour of playing NOBODY on the left wing and that has been just criminal.

Yes he had some bad games but so did every other midfielder at that time. He was hardly going to be effective when we were playing a diamond with howard and hassell in it was he.

I agree he hasn't had the biggest of chances, and he did look good in pre-season, but when he has played this year, he's looked very lightweight, backing out of every challenge and losing the ball way too easily.

Playing against Burton in a pre-season friendly is very different from playing in the Championship.

He's been poor whenever I've seen him. Looks far too lightweight

And to be fair, didn't KO look like a world-beater in his first pre-season with us?

Much different proposition playing in a few friendlies than it is playing in the Championship

    Maybe ....

JUST, MAYBE IF HE HAD TO NOT MADE HIM SELF UNAVAILABE TO WORK THEN PERHAPS HE MAY HAVE BEEN GIVEN MORE OF A CHANCE. And before the PC team jump on board I work with loads of muslims who could not understand his stance on this

He played for the reserves during ramadam

So he obviously didn't make himself that unavailable to work. Convenient excuse made up by our manager perhaps?

    that's right..he didn't refuse to play

Davy said he looked off pace and thought maybe it was due to his fasting during the daylight hours of Ramadam. We never saw or heard anything of him after. make of that what you will.

    I think

he was on a restricted diet during the period (not eating from dawn till dusk) and as such he would not be getting the advised pre match diet.

I doubt it was an excuse

    My conclusion

Is it was a load of crap used as a convenient excuse. I seem to remember he was sat on the bench for us during a night game in ramadam where he obviously hadn't eaten all day. If he was so off the pace and tired why did davey put him on the bench? Also why did he not eat something when it got dark if he was so hungry? He stayed sat on the bench till nearly 10pm

Exactly. Can't understand why any Barnsley fan would even contemplate he was championship standard. Baffled...

RE: Based on what I've seen..

I'd be happier if Ramadan lasted from August until May.
Abysmal player with nothing to offer.

Only played the blackpool game during ramadan 2008

    1st Sept to 30th Sept.

Played 55 mins and was crap.

So I think you are talking *****.

Edit: was an unused sub vs Cardiff on the 16th - fasting finished at 7.23pm

I still think your are talking crap though - he played in most of Decembers games.

Quite sure Davey firmly believes in the correct diet and no doubt it influenced his selection (or not) during ramadan and beyond.

It's not a case of 'making himself unavailable'

But believe me if you're fasting you're not going to be in any fit state to play a proper game of football.

I wouldn't pick any of our squad if they hadn't been eating properly for weeks.
