happened this morning. He's having difficulty standing and keeps falling down. Went to the vet who confirmed things but said with rest, time and medication he may recover fairly quickly. Do any of you have any experience with this sort of thing with doggies? I'm so, so sad for him. It's nearly a year to the day since he had his eye removed and we were thinking how marvellously well he was doing and then this, out of the blue. He's a fighter, a real character ...... and my best friend. Any thoughts and prayers will be much appreciated.
our last Golden Retriever had a stroke type thing at about age 12,the vet gave him some medication and he had a second 'puppyhood' ending only when we sadly had to have him put down when he finally totally wore out age 16/34. Don't want to give you false hope kind of thing, but that's what happened to ours. Good luck wi it all mate anyway.
We had a Working Cocker Spaniel. He had a stroke aged 10 and had medication as you describe. He recovered and eventually died or something that we believe was unrelated aged 12. On the down side Coco was never the same dog.
Dreadfully sad news. Personally I would see if he improves with medication over the next week If his quality of life appears to be poor then you will know what to do. Prayers and best wishes to Brad ! Fingers Crossed for you
I am so with you matey one of my dogs had a severe stroke last July... sadly we had to let her go, it really was that bad. As Dr Zazlos has said , please give Brad a fighting chance as he so deserves it, but its all about quality of life. If that is not there then its unfair on Not only Brad but your family too. My heart and prayers are so totally with you as I have been through this torture a good many times now. Good luck Sir... to you and Brad and all the Badgers. Baz
Sorry to hear that. Not had any experience of it, but hope he recovers. I have a 13 year old Jack Russell & she has all sorts of ailments, but still keeps on keeping on.
Fingers crossed badge am sure he'l recover. Just nursed My cocker back from a disk removed n that's been a big enough Job. Thoughts a we thi mate.
Your pain mirrors mine almost exactly. My little Jack Russell had an eye removed last year due to glaucoma and seemed to recover quite well however, last month he didn't seem himself and so we took him back to the vet. Lots of tests TG for pet insurance and she thought it was high blood pressure and put Benjie on tablets to suit. Last week he started walking into things but the next day he seemed to be able to see ok. However, the last 3 days were terrible, he started making dreadful noises like I've never heard before and we suspected cancer. We took him to the vet again an yesterday it was confirmed he had a cancer pressing on his optic nerve-hence the days of blindness and periods of sight. We couldn't let him suffer anymore-that was yesterday and we cried like babies. She said to us "You will know when it's time" and she was right. May I wish you the very best of luck and I hope you have many more years of happiness with you little dog-they are our very best friend.
My friend, it is desperate times when we have to decide the fate of our best pals. I have had to do it twice before and it is the most difficult, and yet the best, thing to do. There is usually no option. And it breaks your heart. My Brad will be 14 in October (I hope !!) so any extra now is a bonus. He is a border collie, has had 12 years of perfect health, up to last year, so I really cannot feel sorry for myself. I'm upset for him now. But even now he's wagging his tail, bright eyed, wobbling all over the place. It must be terrible for him to feel so dizzy and drunk.
Re: Mr Badger YHM... and Sorry to hear that pal. I love my dog like you wouldn't believe. Hope Brad recovers well.
