Barnsley are a good side, seem to be hard working and there appears to be a good team spirit, which all suggests a strong top half finish. But, games like today have been all too frequent. A weakened XI in a mid/low table team and we were a distant second. Top teams have consistency - see Southend and Colchester (today's result aside! but you know what I mean).
We might finish in a play-off place, and if we do we will have done well, but I honestly feel promotion - automatic or play-offs - are a long shot. However, back in August we would all have been very happy with that. If Andy Ritchie continues to make similar improvements next season who knows.
Today's result wasn't a disaster, it was a wake-up call in my view.

Did I hear you correctly, using terminology like "Wake up call" how many times has that been said this season in respect of this manager. Unfortunately, the man does not know the meaning of such terminology and before you begin to have a go just remember that even if we win the next couple of games it's highly probable that a repetition of today's game will happen yet again. Meaning ,the correct terminology which applies to Ritchie is better known has inconsistancy. you know what I mean Harry. the opposit spectrum to Swansea and Southend. In other words ,backbone ,guts , organisation , planning, scheming and getting to know your enemy and thus responding appropriately to battle plans. Ritchie Ritchie give us a wave.
Yeah you heard me correctly. "wake up call" as in not good enough for automatic promotion, too many performances like that one today. Inconsistent, yep, you heard me correctly. By the way have you been drinking?
