With the amount of chances we had in the first half an hour we could have been out of sight before the'd even got out of there own half. Iceman's strike and Hume's poor follow up stick in my mind, but Foster should have scored, so should Shotton, so should hammill. They scored against the run of play, with there first effort on goal, because of shocking defending once more, and we fell asleep. We just seemed to lose all confidence and found ourselves pegged back. And as a result, went in 2-0 down after more lack lustre defending. We came out in the 2nd half a little brighter and Bogdanovic got a little lucky to score, because of woeful defending, but it's what we needed this afternoon. After bizarrely not recieving a penalty at one end, we gave away a very harsh penalty at the other end and after Steeles save, they followed in the rebound, which effectivly killed the game off. Hammill's strike was a beauty but too little to late. One reason why we lost today was THE REFEREE MR FVCKING HAINES. Here's a few decisions which baffled me today: 1) Just before Hammill made a cross from near the corner flag, Mr Haines decided to stop play because Gray was injured, then gave the ball back to our goalkeeper 90 YARDS BACK DOWN FIELD. 2) There was a clear handball in the penalty area in the first half which MR Haines missed, and was a clear penalty. 3) After Hallfredsson was taken out by a 2 footed challenge, Mr Haines waved play on, only to stop play 5 seconds after to award Bristol a free kick for a brilliant well timed challenge by Colace. 4) How Mr Haines let Nyatanga get away with persistent fouling was beyond me. 5) The linesman spotted the handball which was clearly in the penalty area in the 2nd half, only to come to a joint decision with Mr Haines to award a free kick. 6) After a poor touch, the bristol city striker decided to drop to the floor in order to win a penalty as he wasn't going to catch it, at which point Mr Haines who in all fairness had to send Shotton off if he thought he was the last man, did so. But it never was a foul to start with. 7) After a cross came in, which was likely to be the last attack of the game, the referee gave a foul on the edge of the area to Bristol City for seemingly no apparent reason RANT OVER
Agree with just about everything there. Can't stand how our players stop and moan at the ref when they don't get a decision rather than giving 100% to get the second ball.
2) If that had been given it would have been very lucky. If that type of decision went against us, this site would be in uproar. Besides that I agree, the referee was a lovely person.
they were 'at it' from the start with nudges, pushes, arms across, hammill got done twice down his achiles and nothing was done about it, hume got smacked and nowt was done, the linesman on the eaststand was sh*te all match, he only seemed bothered when their players got touches by ours, feckin disgraceful all the way thro the game...
Ref decisions 1 Head injury to Gray. Play re starts with an uncontested drop ball. Like it or not Ref did not make mistake
2 When the ball touched the lads arm he was falling and I think he was looking the other way. Would have been harsh but I've seen them given.
3 I didn't notice
4 I was more concerned about the unpunished shirt pulling and climbing on Gray by their no 5.
5 this was the worst piece of reffing I've seen in many years.
6 at the other end of the ground form me couldn't see.
7 didn't notice.
He was the worst ref I've seen since mr kettle but let's not forget that there were also some woeful performances from some of our team.

MexboroughTyke I think that the players did very well with the ref. That ref was a cheat. If i was on the pitch i might have it the cheating Bast**d. Please done blame the players for moaning today because they had to say something to get an decision. Sh*t refs we only get s*it refs.
Almost right but don't agree with 6 There striker made an honest attempt to play the ball but overran it and went over in the tackle but jumped straight back up to try to retrieve it. He never appealed for a penalty and wasn't guilty of play acting to try and get one. He looked as bemused as the fans when a penalty was given. Referee will be embarrassed when he sees the the two penalty decisions (Or should I say one penalty given, one not), The hand-ball was at least two yards inside the area and wasn't even close. To give it a yard outside the area smacks of bribery. Are refs ever investigated or are they always deemed right even when they're clearly not.
what about Butterfield. He got a slap in the face which cut him and he did not even get a free kick. Then when he went off it took the ref for ever to let him back on.
RE: Agree with just about everything there. Yeah Hume was guilty at not playing to the whistle a few times today. Disapointed how asleep our defence was after Steele had saved the pen.
RE: Ref decisions Yeah it was obvious to all that Brizzle would boot it as far back down end they could. Why would anyone expect them to give it back to us well in their own half? Hammill should have known that and challenged the drop ball.
Just because he was cut doesn't mean it was a foul. The ref couldn't let him back on because the ball was in play next to where Butterfield was stood waiting. As soon as play moved on, he signalled to him...
He let their guy decide where the offence took place It seemed obvious that the ref gave the decision cause the lino flagged. Then realised he had no idea where it took place. The offender cottoned on to this and run from inside the box to the edge and appealed that it was outside (which was surely and admission of guilt). The free kick was awarded on the exact spot the Bristol player pointed to. Class.
Yeah, we would have been better off contesting the drop-ball I'm not sure if the ref would have been allowed to stop us doing that.
