Yesterday very dissapointing. First half truely dreadful. How long till we got a shot on goal? Second half marginally better but unsurprised we got nothing. For me there are six players in that team that i am happy to keep in the side. Colgan, Hassell, Kay, Togwell, Howard and McIndoe. I have some faith in Williams and Richards maybe as reserves but HAYES, REID and DEVANEY can leave the club tommorow for all i care. Hayes-yes he has ability but he is so workshy its untrue. Reid-nowhere near as good as people make out and certainly not a skipper Devaney-Winger my arse! How often do you see him run at and beat a man? We are in a much worse state than i thought. Ritchie said he would give these players a chance. Well they have had their chance and half of them are simply not up to this leagues football. We have no keeper to press Colgan We lack a leader at the back and a decent left back. We lack sharpness, height and strength particularly all over particularly in front of goal. Also the formation with wingers isnt working. Ritchie must change the shape. Teams have worked us out and are blocking the threat. Lets put Mcindoe in a free role. New team GK-Colgan RB-Hassell CD-Kay CD-(experienced defender whos good in the air) LB-(experienced left back) DMF-Togwell CM-Howard CM-(experienced battler) AM-McIndoe CF-Nardiello CF-(big experienced striker) Reserves: GK-(experienced keeper), Letheren DF-Austin, Williams, Atkinson, MF-Healy(after a loan spell for fitness), Tonge, (young attacking midfielder) CF-Richards, (couple of best young quick strikers) Thats a squad of 22. Release: Heckingbottom, Hayes, McParland, Wroe, Mannone, Devaney, Wright, plus loan out any youngsters not ready.
Devaney's the one with black hair mate. Think you might have got him mixed up with one of our forwards.
So no wide men what so ever? and you'd buy another centre half despite the fact we have a decent pairing of Kay and Hassell available to us? awesome, you'll be in the runner for the England job any day now
Utter crap? I'd put Healy out on loan to a League one side for a couple of months. Ive not been impressed with his performances so far but he does have the excuse of recent severe injuries. The other three dont such an excuse for playing badly. I can also bet that ive seen Healy play more times than you have and on his past performaces he should be given a chance to prove he has still got what he had before his injuries. Lets face it Richard Kell is still hanging around the club after over a year so if a League two player is allowed to be given that much of a chance an international player should surely?
RE: So no wide men what so ever? Kay and Hassell are our best centre halfs. But have you thought about injuries? Of course we need more cover. Also i think Hassell struggles in the centre a bit against the bigger strikers, so its always good to have an option to switch Bobby between full back and centre half depending on the opposition. As for wide men i think as i said teams are realising that if they counter the wide men we are sunk. Personally i think we played much better when Devaney went off and Mcindoe went where he wanted to Oh and i wouldnt want the England job even if i was on Svens astronomical wages.
Thats not the point though.. Sorry, but we wouldn't have lost at Sunderland if we hadn't brought Healy on, and I don't think we'd have lost yesterday either. Its making substitutions just for the sake of making substitutions. The bloke is terrified to go into a challenge for fear of injury, and this so-called "range of passing" is non-existant.
If you're going to single out Hayes for being a wimp, then you can add him. Hayes was crap yesterday and has been in the last few games, but its Richards who gets the chances infront of goal, and heads straight at the goalkeeper from 3 yards. Devaney is a good player whos short of confidence, and Reid yesterday? He made one mistake - the back four were all very good yesterday and Coventry created nothing.
Barnsley fans have a history of over-reacting on this board -- nice to see nothings changed. You'd think we were down already.

Well like i said Healy doesnt look the player he was a few seasons ago. He looks off the pace and yes if he hasnt improved after a couple of months out on loan then get rid. Rememeber though he is proven at this level and unless you have someone lined up better then why let him go? Devaney's performance was truely shocking. Every time he went forward he stopped and went back. He doesnt track back to defend. I also notice on one of our break away attacks that by the time our man with the ball (Mcindoe i think) reached the byline to cross Devaney was still ten yards outside the penalty area. Yet he seems to be on the teamsheet straight away because of lack of cover. Hayes is annoyingly lazy because you know he has talent. Kick up backside might be in order? As for Paul Reid he was turned easily three or four times in the penalty area in that game and got away with it due to cover by Hassell, Kay and Colgan. If it was one mistake i wouldnt be so harsh, but it wasnt. Weak link!
Skinned several times yesterday Weak link.Just because he talks a good game to get the fans on his side doesnt make him a great captain. We look to have a better defence without him.
Pretty astute assessment although I wpould prefer to keep Reid, as midfield cover as well as defence, rather than wait for Healy to come good.
turned too easily three times that i counted but that doesn't make him a bad player - 2nd game back from injury and he looked better after half time IMO. If we were to let Reidy go I'm pretty certain we'd regret it pretty quickly
I presume... ...that you have thought up a magical way to finance these 8 new players of which you speak? Left back and Centre Forward are my priorities.
Well we could start by letting those 7 i listed go. Assuming anyone wants them of course. In any case if we are coming down to finances we'll soon be losing cash as we head for relegation with the inexperienced side we have got. Please Andy no more young kids lets see some players 30+. If we can manage to stay up this season we might just have the finances to put a decent team together as wages might not be so tight next season. Or maybe not eh Mr Shepherd?
I like that we've got two central defenders why would we need another, everybody knows that them two will play every game between now and may.
We only need a squad of 16.

and of course its reight easy... to bring in the 3-4 experienced players in when the transfer window's closed isn't it. and even easier to bring them in on loan1 clown
