For me , the first half performance from Barnsley was as good as I've seen for quite sometime . Prior to the match , I was wondering whether we had the wherewithall to match Brentford's aggressive style . I needn't have worried . We matched and bettered them all over the park , both in terms of skill and passion . One lapse in concentration in defence , seconds after we'd scored , cost us dearly . The second half wasn't up to the standards of the first , but again , Brentford were more interested in preserving the status quo than going for three points . Normally I wouldn't make comment on the referee's performance , as it's often used as a smokescreen to hide either an individual or team's own shortcomings . However , the man in the middle yesterday was awful . To tolerate the actions of Isaiah Rankin was bad enough , but to send off Paul Reid for what to me appeared to be accidental handball just about summed up a shockingly inept performance .
We are going to win more games this season without reaching the heights of the first half standards . Well done boys , top display without getting the result the performance deserved . My MOTM ? Jacob Burns , who I thought gave his best performance in a Barnsley shirt .
